Ceramic Candle Household
Drinking Water Filter
Assembly, Operating and Maintenance Instruction
The Household Drinking Water Filter:
is designed to be free standing on a stable surface
can be fitted with 2 or 4 ceramic filter elements
should only be used for the treatment of cold water
Cleanliness is important. Wash hands before and after handling
the product and take care to ensure that no contamination of the
components occurs during assembly and cleaning.
Tap Assembly:
Remove the plastic nut. Moisten both washers with clean water. Remove one rubber washer
from the threaded part of the tap
Insert the threaded part of the tap through the hole in the side of the bottom container
Replace the second rubber washer onto the thread protruding through to the inside of
the bottom container and secure the tap in place with the nut
Ensure the outlet tap is in an upright position
Ceramic Filter Assembly:
Remove all protective packaging from the filter elements
Place the upper container (with holes drilled in the base) over the lid (in line with the
corresponding holes)
Ensure the container locates into the recessed face of the lid
Place a sealing washer over each filter element mount stem
Place the filter element mount stem through the container and lid to align the holes
Secure each filter element loosely in place by screwing a wing nut onto the threaded
stem protruding through the holes
When all of the filter elements are in place, finally tighten all of the wing nuts to ensure
a tight seal to the top container
Final Assembly:
Place the completed top container onto the bottom container and clip the lid into
place to secure the whole assembly
Fit the remaining lid (without holes) in position to cover the top container
Filter Operation:
Ensure the outlet tap is in the “off” position
Fill the top container with water and replace the lid
Leave to allow the water to filter through the ceramic filter elements and collect
in the bottom container, from where it can be accessed via the tap. The maximum flow rate
will be achieved once the ceramic filter elements have become fully saturated - usually after
filtering of one full container of water
It is recommended that this first supply of filtered water is thrown away, as it may
contain loose material washed from the filter elements
The filter is now ready for use
The top container can be replenished with more water as required
If the water supply is contaminated with virus, this can be addressed by adding
Chlorine tablets to the upper chamber
Due to filtration of particulate contaminants from the water during use, the flow of the
water from the filter may reduce over a period of time, depending on the quality of the water
To restore the water flow to its normal level, simply clean the filter elements as follows:
Ceramic Filter Cleaning:
The filter elements can be cleaned in position inside the top container
Never use soap or detergents
Remove the lid and empty any water from the top container
Support the top of the element with one hand
Take a soft bristle brush or lightly abrasive pad in the other hand and cup it around the
circumference of the filter element
Apply a gentle pressure with the brush or pad and slowly work down the length of each
filter element once, ensuring the cleaning is even over the whole filter element surface
Rinse the surface of the filter elements with non filtered water
Discard the dirty water and rinse out the top container
Wash hands and then check that the wingnuts are still forming a
tight seal with the filter elements and the top container
Refill the top container and replace the lid
The filter is now ready for use.
