RHELIIG.book Page 20 Thursday, April 14, 2011 12:15 PM drivers/usb/input/hid-core.c: input irq status -71 received This issue occurs because the hid-core driver misunderstands a status received from the ehci-hcd driver and prevents the system from shutting down or rebooting. To work around this issue, run the following line before exec $command $HALTARGS in the shutdown script — /etc/rc.d/init.
RHELIIG.book Page 21 Thursday, April 14, 2011 12:15 PM To work around this issue, start the installation with the following command line option: noapic nolapic When both the parameters are passed, the kernel boots and the installation is completed successfully. The parameters are only required when installing the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 4 and can be removed once the installation is complete. A fix for this issue is available in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 5.
