Example
The following example in Interface Configuration mode enables the virtual router for VLAN
15.
console(config)#interface vlan 15
console(config-if-vlan15)#ip vrrp 5 mode
ip vrrp preempt
Use the ip vrrp preempt command in Interface Configuration mode to set the preemption mode
value for the virtual router configured on a specified interface. Use the
no form of the command to
disable preemption mode.
Syntax
ip vrrp vr-id preempt
no ip vrrp
vr-id preempt
• vr-id — The virtual router identifier. (Range: 1-255)
Default Configuration
Enabled is the default configuration.

Example
The following example in Interface Configuration mode sets the preemption mode value for
the virtual router for VLAN 15.
console(config)#interface vlan 15
console(config-if-vlan15)#ip vrrp 5 preempt
ip vrrp priority
Use the ip vrrp priority command in Interface Configuration mode to set the priority value for the
virtual router configured on a specified interface. Use the no form of the command to return the
priority to the default value.
