Information Sheet for VMware vSphere
(ESXi) 6.5
At Dell, we strive to make Systems Management Support available to you with the General Availability (GA) of an operating

product(s), we believe in enhancing our customer experience by providing our best effort support for Systems Management
Software product(s) and full support will be available in the next available version of Systems Management Software.
This Technical Information Sheet documents information related to any limitations or known issues in using iDRAC Service
Module 2.4 on systems running the VMware vSphere (ESXi) 6.5 operating system.
Known Issues and Limitations
● Description: On systems running VMware vSphere (ESXi) 6.5 operating system, iDRAC Service Module’s sfcb process, that
is sfcb-dcism, stops abruptly when wbem is disabled.
Reason: The abrupt stop of the sfcb-dcism process is because of the CMPI c++ library incompatibility. Repetitive wbem
enable/ disable will result in loss of semaphores and processes requiring global systemV semaphores will stop.
Workaround: If the semaphore limit is exhausted, the hypervisor reboot will retrieve all lost semaphores.
● Description: On systems running VMWare ESXi 6.5 operating system, iDRAC Service Module's network interfaces
monitoring feature experiences delays.
Reason: The CIM indication destination URL used by iDRAC Service Module for subscription is not available in the 6.5 build,
so iDRAC Service Module does not receive real-time alerts when network parameters are altered.
Workaround: None. This will be addressed in the next release of iDRAC Service Module subjected to the availability of the
new destination URL scheme.
● Description: On systems running ESXi 6.5 operating system, iDRAC Service Module’s sfcb process that is sfcb-dcism is
consuming an average of 17MB of memory. On ESXi 6.0 U2, the same process consumes an average of 5-6 MB of memory.
Workaround: None.
● Description: ESXi 6.5 update manager does not display object in Patch and extensions to deploy iDRAC Service Module 2.4
offline bundle through vSphere Update Manager.
Workaround: This is a known issue and the fix for this issue can be expected in the next available version of iDRAC Service
Module.
● Description: On systems running ESXi 6.5 operating system, error messages found in system logs while iDRAC Service
Module 2.4 Longevity is active.
Workaround: None.
