Laminate Sheet & Strip Installation
TOOLS REQUIRED
J-Roller
Paint Pan
Small Paint Roller
Safety Glasses
Shears
Smooth File
Straight, ush-out, carbide
router bit
Hand Router
MATERIALS REQUIRED
Laminate - cut to appropriate
size
Contact Adhesive
Acetone
Clean Sticks
Clean Rags
Trace & cut laminate
sheet and laminate strip
to have 1/2" overhang
past each side of the
edge you are laminating.
Clean any dust from
material before prepar-
ing laminate & board to
be bonded by following
contact adhesive manu-
facturers instructions.
After carefully position-
ing laminate strip along
surface edge, bond the
two surfaces. Start at
one end work to other.
Apply steady even pres-
sure to the edge with a
j-roller to ensure proper
adhesion.
Trim excess laminate
with a straight, ush-cut,
carbide router bit.
File trimmed edge ush
with a smooth le.
Always le in towards
the material.
Prepare laminate surface
to be bonded by following
contact adhesive manu-
facturers instructions. Be
careful not to come in
contact with adhesive.
Allow curing time accord-
ing to Contact Adhesive
Manufacturers directions.
Large laminate sheets
often require the use of
temporary sticks to aid
in positioning of the
laminate.
Bond laminate to surface
by using steady even
pressure working from
the center out.
After ling newly trimmed
top, clean off glue resi-
due with acetone. Then
wipe clean with Windex
or similar.
Spray a lubricant such as
Lami-Lube or cooking spray
to the edge to be trimmed,
this will help prevent
scratching the surface.
Trim excess with straight or
ush-cut carbide router bit.
