Kickback is the backward, upward or sudden forward motion of the guide bar occurring when the saw chain near the upper tip of the guide bar contacts any object such as a log or branch, or when the wood closes in and pinches the saw chain in the cut. Contacting a foreign object in the wood can also result in loss of chain saw control. • Rotational Kickback can occur when the moving chain contacts an object at the upper tip of the guide bar.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER When pulling the starter rope, do not use the full extent of the rope as this can cause the rope to break. Do not let starter rope snap back. Hold the handle and let the rope rewind slowly. NOTE: DO NOT attempt to cut material with the fast idle lock button in the locked position. INSPECT MUFFLER AND SPARK ARRESTING SCREEN As the unit is used, carbon deposits build up on the muffler and spark arresting screen, and must be removed to avoid creating a fire hazard or affecting engine performance. Replace the spark arresting screen if breaks occur. TOREPLACE CHAIN: 1. Move ON/STOP switch totheSTOP position. 2. Remove chainbrake nuts. 3. Remove chainbrake. 11. Pull guide bar forward until chain is snug in guide bar groove. Ensure all drive links are in the bar groove. 12. Install chain brake. 13. Install chain brake nuts and finger tighten only. Do not tighten any further at this point. Proceed to CHAIN ADJUSTMENT.
