Neverfuel the machineindoorsor while the engine ishotor running.Extinguishcigarettes,cigars,pipesand othersourcesof ignition. Removethe fourwing knobs(twooneachside)andcarriagebolts.Place drift cutter inuprightpositionandre-secure.SeeFigure9. Alwayskeephandsandfeet clearof equipment moving parts.

Tochangethe upperchuteangleto controlthe distancethatsnowisthrown, pivotthe [everforwardor backward. Movethe [everforwardto pivotthe upperchutedownandreducethe distancesnowis thrown. Neveruseyour handsto clearacloggedchute assembly.Shutoff engine and remainbehind handlesuntilall movingpartshavestoppedbefore unclogging.
Gasoline Theextensioncordcan beany length, but must be ratedfor 15ampsat 125 volts,groundedand ratedfor outdoor use. ReplacingShearpins Theaugersaresecuredto thespiralshaftwith shearpinsandbow-tiecotterpins. Ifthe augershouldstrikea foreignobjector icejam, the snowthrowerisdesigned sothatthe pinsmayshear.Ifthe augerswill not turn, checkto seeif the pinshave sheared.SeeFigure17. Toavoid unsupervisedengineoperation, never leavethe machine unattendedwith the engine running.Turnthe engine off after useand removekey. StoppingThe Engine NOTE:Twoextrashearpinsaresuppliedin the manualbag.
MAINTENANCE SCHEDULE Followthe maintenance schedulegivenbelow.Thischartdescribes service guidelinesonly.Usethe ServiceLogcolumnto keeptrackofcompleted maintenancetasks.Tolocatethe nearestSearsServiceCenteror to scheduleservice, Beforeperforminganytypeof maintenance/service,disengageall controls andstop the engine.Wait until all moving partshavecometo acomplete stop.Removethe keyto preventunintendedstarting. Alwayswearsafety glassesduringoperation or while performingany adjustmentsor repairs.
f Ifthe engine hasbeenrunning, the muffler will be veryhot. Becareful not to touchthe muffler. NOTE:Checkthe sparkplugonceaseasonor every25hoursof operation.Change the sparkplugonceaseasonor every100hours. Toensureproperengineoperation,the sparkplug mustbeproperlygappedand freeof deposits. 1. ShavePlateand SkidShoes Theshaveplateandskidshoeson the bottomofthe snowthroweraresubjectto wear.Theyshouldbecheckedperiodicallyandreplacedwhennecessary. Skid Shoes NOTE:Theskidshoeson thismachinehavetwo wearedges.Whenoneside wearsout,theycanberotated180° to usethe otheredge.
