Window Valance & Window Panel Measurement & Installation Guide
Window Valances & Window Panels can be used together or separately. You can add layers of valances over curtains to
create a designer look or keep it simple with just a valance, valance over blinds, or just a window curtain panel. Just
ensure you purchase the correct curtain rod to obtain your desired look. But either way the window coverings will add
character and color to your window creating a visual interest. Here are a few steps to ensure you get the perfect size
and look for your window rather installing a window valance or window panels.
Window Valances come in a single pack & Window Panels come in a set of 2 per pack
Knowing the quantity per pack will help you know how many to order in order to fit your window
properly.
1. One should measure the length of the window (Top to Bottom) that one will be hanging the valance or panel for. If
you see by the above image (blue arrow) one should measure from the curtain bracket to the part of the window one
wants the valance or panel to hang to ensure your window is covered as you desire.
2. Next one should measure the width of the window (Side to Side). Measuring from one end of the curtain rod bracket
to the other end of the curtain rod bracket. For valances and panels one wants to measure from curtain rod to rod
creating a fitted tailored look but if one wants a more gathered/ruffled designer look one could double the width of the
window to create that fullness.
3. Note that it is easiest to hang a window valance or window panel with two people. Once you have the measurements
complete and valances or panels purchased now you are ready to hang. Both valances and panels have a curtain rod
pocket which makes it easy to hang as you simply slide the curtain rod through.
4. For a Valances and Panels one will need to remove the existing hung curtain rod and insert the rod through the rod
pocket on the valance or panel. Then rehang the rod back up over the window. Be sure the valance and panel backs are
facing the wall to ensure the room gets the beautiful colors.
After your window valance or window panel is hung do not forgot your little finishing touches to ensure it is laying,
gathered, and hanging in the proper fashion, in order to obtain the look you are desiring.
