Cleaning, Maintenance, and
Lubrication Schedule
Note: This maintenance schedule is
intended solely as a general guide.
If performance decreases or if equip-
ment operates unusually, check sys-
tems immediately. The maintenance
needs of each piece of equipment
will differ depending on factors such
as duty cycle, temperature, air qual-
ity, fuel quality, and other factors. If
you have doubts about your ability to
safely service this tool, have a quali-
ed technician service the equipment
instead.
Note: These procedures are in addition to
the regular checks and maintenance
explained as part of the regular op-
eration of the engine and equipment.
Weekly Maintenance:
Clean the cooling system as de-a.
scribed under Servicing-Cooling
System. Check the lters, clean or
replace as needed.
Check and clean the spark plug.b.
Clean the Cooling Fins on the Cylin-c.
der (1K).
Check the mufer.d.
Check the carburetor.e.
Blow dust off with compressed air.f.
Monthly Maintenance:
Check the clutch drum, drive-pulley, a.
clutch springs for wear.
Clean the outside of the carburetor.b.
Check the fuel lter and fuel hose. c.
Change if needed.
Clean the inside of the fuel tank.d.
Check all cables and connectionse.
Storage
Wait for engine to cool, then clean 1.
engine with clean cloth.
Remove the blade from the Saw and 2.
store separately.
Abrasive blades should be handled 3.
with care to prevent damage. Store
abrasive blades on a at level sur-
face.
When the equipment is to remain idle 4.
for longer than 20 days, prepare the
engine for storage as follows:
Empty fuel tank.a.
Clean out area around spark plug. b.
Remove spark plug and pour one
tablespoon of engine oil into cylinder
through spark plug hole.
Reinstall spark plug, but leave spark c.
plug wire disconnected.
Pull recoil starter to distribute oil in d.
cylinder. Stop after one or two revo-
lutions.
Apply a thin coat of rust preventive oil 5.
to all uncoated metal parts.
Cover and store in a dry, well-ventilat-6.
