JPEG
Mostcamerasusethisimagetype.Itcompressesatveryhighratios,takingadvantage
ofthecharacteristicsofthehumaneye.However,becauseitisanirreversible
compressionmethod(partofthedataislostduringcompression),ifyouprocessand
saveanimagerepeatedlyusingthismethod,theimagemaybecomerougher.
ExifJPEGisanimagetypethataddsinformationsuchasshootingdatatoaJPEG
image.
RAW
ThisisaproprietaryimagetypeprovidedbyCanon.Itallowstheoutputoftheimage
pixelsfromadigitalcamerawithoutanydeteriorationinthequalityoftheimage.
Somecamerasmightnotsupportthisimagetype.
PICT
ThisisthestandardimagetypeforMacintosh.Thisimagetypeissupportedbymost
Macintoshsoftware.
TIFF
Thisisarelativelypopularimagetype.Itiswidelysupportedbynon-Macintosh
programs(suchasWindows).
Windows Bitmap
ThisimagetypecomesstandardwithWindows.MostWindowsprogramssupportit.
QuickTime/AVI
Thesearemovies,whichdisplayasamovieiconintheBrowserAreaofImageBrowser.
