I. PAPER PICK-UP ASSEMBLY AND FEEDER
A. Outline
When the pick-up clutch solenoid (SL1) engages, main motor (M1) turns the roller, feeding a
sheet of copy paper to the registration rollers. The number of rotations of the pick-up roller varies
with the length of the copy paper.
The copy paper is fed by the registration rollers so that its leading edge is in line with the
leading edge of the toner image on the photosensitive drum. It then passes through the transfer,
separation, feed, fixing and delivery stages to the copy tray.
The copy paper is sensed by paper sensor (Q2 and Q5). If it does not reach or pass the sensors
within the specified period, the DC controller PCB judges that a jam has occurred and causes the
JAM indicator on the control panel to flash.
The cassette paper sensor (Q11) senses whether there is paper in the cassette. If there is not, the
CASSETTE PAPER EMPTY signal (CPEP) goes '0', causing the ADD PAPER indicator on the
control panel to go ON.
