If an error occurs, the camera’s LCD
monitor will display the error screen, and
the LCD panel will display an error code
like “Err xx.” To resolve the error, follow
the instructions on the LCD monitor.
If an error keeps occurring, there may be
a problem. Write down the error code and
consult your nearest Canon Service
Center.
To exit the error screen, set the <4> switch <2> and <1> or
remove and reinstall the battery.

Error Code Countermeasures
Err 01
Communications between the camera and lens is
faulty.
Clean the lens contacts. (p.11)
Err 02
There is a problem with the CF card.
Try any of the following:
• Replace the CF card.
• Remove and reinsert the CF card.
• Format the CF card.
Err 04
The CF card is full and cannot record further.
Erase unnecessary images in the card or replace the
CF card.
Err 05
The auto pop-up of the built-in flash has been
obstructed.
Err 99
An error other than the above has occurred.
This error may occur if you use a non-Canon lens and
the camera or lens does not operate properly.

Probable cause and solution
If an error code appears right after shooting, the picture might not have been
captured. When the camera is ready to shoot again, press the <x> button
and check if the picture was captured.
