Troubleshooting
Camera
Camera will not operate.
Power is not turned on. z Press the power button (Basic
Guide p. 9).
Memory card slot/battery
cover is open.
z Confirm that the memory card slot/
battery cover is securely closed
(Basic Guide p. 2).
Batteries are loaded in the
wrong direction.
z Reload the batteries in the correct
direction (Basic Guide p. 5).
Batteries are not the right
type.
z Use only unused AA-size alkaline
batteries or Canon AA-size NiMH
batteries (p. 112).
Battery charge is low and
the camera will not
operate. (“Change the
batteries” message
displays).
z Replace the camera batteries with 4
unused or fully charged batteries
(Basic Guide p. 5).
z Use the AC Adapter Kit ACK600
(sold separately) (p. 119).
Poor contact between
camera and battery
terminals.
z Wipe the battery terminals with a
clean dry cloth.
z Reload the batteries several times.
Sounds come from the camera interior.
The camera’s horizontal/
vertical orientation was
changed.
z The camera’s orientation
mechanism is operating. There is no
malfunction.
