Stud Mounting Instructions
PORCELAIN ENAMELED STEEL LAVATORY
This lavatory features a ‘stud’ mounting system for improved speed and ease of hardware
assembly and mounting. The stud mounting system is more forgiving of surrounding
interferences, like tight spaces underneath modern bathroom countertop designs, where
spaces around the lavatory cutout can be cluttered with bracing and other obstructions. Unlike
older bracket mounting systems, the stud system allows rotational versatility while still
attaining purchase for complete and uniform clamping. This advanced system is also designed
to limit clamping forces with engineered yield strengths for stud and hardware; thereby,
providing a uniform distribution of clamping forces, spring-back for thread-locking, and allowing
additional over-torque leniency, which helps prevent damage during installation. Once carton
installation instructions are completed, stud-mounting is quick and easy:
1. Locate the hardware package (included in the box
with the lavatory fixture), which includes six screws
and six brackets. Notice the brackets have threaded
and non-threaded holes at opposite ends.
2. Pre-assemble hardware by installing screws into
threaded bracket holes, observing the orientation
shown, using 5/16” nut driver or #2 Philips driver.
3. Slide bracket through-hole onto studs from
underneath, adjusting rotation to avoid obstacles
and gain purchase, then tighten. Stud assemblies
yield a bit to distribute uniform clamping forces and
help prevent over-tightening. Finger-tight plus a few
turns is generally sufficient for secure mounting.
Seal the lavatory rim to the countertop with appropriate caulking (following sealant
manufacturer directions) to prevent leaks as per lavatory carton installation instructions.
