This beautiful plant may be “old fashioned”, but it is one of the MOST sought after herbaceous
perennials. Mostly revered for its bold , large, colorful, and fragrant blooms. This is another plant that
when you bury your nose in the fragrance of the blossom, it evokes memories of years gone by.

Sun Exposure/ Watering
Performs best in full sun. Water regularly for establishment but drought tolerant once established.

Bloom Period early May until early June. Peonies are designated as Early, Mid, and Late, which
means that for an extended bloom season, you should plant several cultivars to extend your Peony floral
display.
Growing Tips
Low maintenance. Trim peony foliage to ground late summer.
Caring for Peony
Pretty much care free. Fertilize in Spring with a time release fertilizer. Fertile, well drained soils. Flowers
best in full sun. if in colder zones, may want to add a layer of mulch for protection. Peonies benefit from
organic matter such as composted manure or mushroom soil.
Pests & Problems
Avoid wet soils and promote good air circulation to promote healthy root growth and to keep foliar
diseases at bay.
