For outdoor play, sink the wooden stakes into the ground and arrange the strings to form a 3' x 3' grid (Figure 1). For indoor play,

follow the Game Play instructions below without using the wooden stakes and strings.

GAME SET-UP

PLAYING EQUIPMENT

GAME PLAY

• 5 – 4" x 4" X tiles

• 5 – 4" x 4" O tiles

• 4 – nylon perimeter strings

• 8 – wooden stakes

Note: You may need a rubber mallet or a small hammer to insert the wooden stakes into the ground.

One player chooses to be ‘X’ and the other chooses to be ‘O’. Player O always goes rst. Players alternate placing X and O tiles on

the grid in an attempt to get three in a row (horizontally, vertically or diagonally) for a win. A draw (tie or “cat”) occurs when all nine

squares are lled without either player getting three Xs or Os in a row.
