Manual Rebuild
The manual rebuild can be performed by using WebBIOS or Universal RAID Utility, the
management utility of the RAID Controller (MegaRAID). Select a HDD and start the rebuild
manually.
Auto Rebuild
The RAID Controller (MegaRAID) can automatically start the rebuild without use of any utility
such as Universal RAID Utility.
The auto rebuild includes two types as follows:
Standby rebuild
Automatic rebuild by using hot-spares. In the configuration including hot-spares, the
rebuild is performed automatically if a HDD assigned to a virtual disk is defected.
Hot-swap rebuild
Automatic rebuild by hot-swapping defected HDD.
When executing Rebuild, note that
* Use the new HDD which has the same capacity, the same performance(rpm), and
the same specification as the old one which is replaced because of a
failure/error.
* While Rebuild, the system perforamance might be down.
* While Rebuild, don’t shut down or reboot the system.
If the power was OFF accidentally while Rebuild, Power ON the system as soon
as possible. Then Rebuild will be restarted automatically.
* More than 90 seconds interval is required between the timing of removing the
old HDD and the timing of inserting the new one.
* If Hot-swap rebuild does not work well, try Manual rebuild.
