Appendix B: Connecting to the ADS Spider
Local Connection
Ensure that the Spider and your PC have matching network
parameters. (Please refer to Appendix C: Local Network
Configuration on page 87 for details.)
Turn on the Spider by pressing the button on the front panel. The unit
must be turned on (i.e., the display must be showing something)
before you can establish a local connection.
Connect the Spider to your network. If you want to connect your PC
directly to the Spider, you can use the red cross-over network cable
supplied with the Spider.
Start an Internet browser program, such as Microsoft Internet
Explorer, on your PC. Type 192.168. 0.187 as the web address, and
press the Return or Enter key. (If you changed the default IP
address, as described in Appendix C: Local Network Configuration on
page 87, then enter the new IP address instead.)
The Spider log-on page will be displayed on your PC. Enter your
username and password in the spaces provided. (Default values are
user and changeme, respectively.) Click on the Log in button.
The Alarms page will be displayed immediately following a successful
log-on. You can now examine other pages as described in
Connecting to a PC
