PetSafe's Microchip Cat Door (sold separately) has a built-in microchip reader that allows only the pets you've programmed in to pass through. But metal can interfere with the reader's ability to recognize your cat's chip. So if you are planning to install the door in a metal or metal core door, you're going to need this adaptor to improve that performance. This kit also has you covered if you want to install the cat door into a glass wall, window, or door. It includes some additional support to improve weather resistance in glass installations for increased energy efficiency. Cutting holes in a glass panel is a skilled job that should only be carried out by a professional glazier.
