This antique wooden bowl is over 150-years old, hand-carved from wood by artisans in India. These handcrafted bowls were each carved with a flat rim and used to carry grains from the market home, store grains and spices, eat cooked food and for mixing. The flat base allowed for easy grinding of spices and mixing ingredients for baking, as this wood bowl was mainly used to make paratha, a flatbread popular in the region. The dark color of the wood is from natural hand oils from heavy use over time.
