INSTALLATION GB If this appliance featuring magnetic door seals is to replace an older appliance having a spring lock (latch) on the door or lid, be sure to make that spring lock unusable before you discard the old appliance. This will prevent it from becoming a death-trap for a child. Positioning The appliance should be installed well away from sources of heat such as radiators, boilers, direct sunlight etc.
Important It is essential that the appliance be connected to an efficient earth tap. For this purpose the supply cable plug incorporates a special earth contact. If the sockets of your domestic wiring system are not earthed, have the appliance connected to a separate earth wire by a qualified electrician in accordance with existing safety regulations. The Manufacturer declines all responsibility if the above safety precautions are not observed.

Freezing of fresh foods To fast-freeze foods when the appliance has not been in use, switch on the freezer and let it run on the fastfreeze setting for at least three hours before putting the food to be frozen in the compartment. If the appliance is already in operation, it should run on the fast-freeze setting for at least 24 hours before the food is put in the freezer. Once the food has been placed in the freezer, the freezing operation can be considered to be complete 24 hours later.
Thawing Fresh food refrigeration Before being used, deep-frozen and frozen food can be thawed out either in the refrigerator or at room temperature, depending on the time available for this operation. Small pieces of food, such as hamburgers, chips, and fish fingers, for example, can be cooked straight out of the freezer, without any intermediate thawing operation. Clearly, cooking time will be marginally longer than in the case of thawed food.
The walls of the refrigerator are equipped with a series of runners so that the shelves (grids) can be positioned as desired (Fig. 7). Fig. 7 D040 Fig. 8 Positioning the door shelves To permit storage of food packages of various sizes, the door shelves can be adjusted in height. To make these adjustments proceed as follows: Gradually pull the shelf in the direction of the arrows until it comes free, then reposition as required (Fig. 8). D064 Fig.
Defrosting Fig. 10 Frost is automatically eliminated from the evaporator of the refrigerator compartment every time the motor compressor stops, during normal use. The defrost water drains out through a trough (Fig. 10) into a special container on the back of the appliance, where it evaporates. In the freezer compartment however, the frost should be removed with the special plastic scraper provided, whenever the thickness exceeds 4 mm.
MAINTENANCE Before carrying out any operation, unplug the appliance. GB Interior light bulb The light bulb inside the refrigerator compartment can be reached as follows: Periodic cleaning Wash the interior with lukewarm water and sodium bicarbonate, and clean the painted components with silicone wax; clean the condenser and the motor compressor with a brush or a vacuum cleaner. This operation will improve the operation of the appliance and save energy.
