Section 3 - Getting Started Getting Started This section will guide you through the major functions of your DHA-130 Dual-Mode IP/DECT Phone, such as making and receiving calls, setting up a call conference, and managing your handset’s phonebook. Basic handset controls To make a call, switch to the line you wish to use with the Mode button, then type in the number you wish to call and press the Call button. You can also press the Call button first, then type in the number you wish to call.
Section 3 - Getting Started D-Life calling D-Life calls are made up of two types of calls - D-Life calls and D-Life Out calls. D-Life calls: D-Life calls are calls to other D-Life members. These calls are free, and can be made any time, for as long as you want, no matter where the D-Life member is, allowing you to make free long distance and international calls through D-Life service. To make a D-Life call, switch to ( ) mode, dial the 8-digit D-Life number you want to call, and press the Call key.
Section 3 - Getting Started Regular calling You can also make regular phone calls through your existing phone line with the DHA-130. The DHA-130 gives you access to your phone line just like a traditional cordless phone. All charges and related fees for these calls are handled through your existing phone service. To make a regular phone call, switch to ( ) mode, and dial the number you wish to call as you would on a regular phone.
Section 3 - Getting Started Receiving calls When your phone has an incoming call, it will ring and flash the Call LED at the top right of the handset. Depending on whether the incoming call is a regular phone call or a D-Life call, the display will show [i] to indicate an incoming D-Life call, or [p] to indicate an incoming call from your regular phone line. The D-Life number or phone number of the incoming call will also be displayed*.
Section 3 - Getting Started During a call During a call, you can do the following: Change Volume: You can increase or decrease the volume of the call by pressing the directional pad up or down. Mute: You can mute the microphone by pressing the right soft key. You can unmute by pressing the right soft key again. Speakerphone: You can toggle the speakerphone function of the handset on and off by pressing the left soft key to access the OPTIONS screen, then selecting SPEAKER.
Section 3 - Getting Started Using the Phonebook You can store phone numbers in the built-in phonebook by entering them manually, or after dialing or receiving a call. To enter the phonebook, press the right soft key (NAMES). Here, you can select from the handset’s local phonebook and the D-Life phonebook. You can quickly access the handset’s phonebook by pressing down on the directional pad, or you can access the D-Life phonebook by pressing up on the directional pad.
Section 3 - Getting Started Using the Phonebook Select NEW ENTRY to create a new contact in your phonebook. Enter your contact’s name, number, whether you wish the number to be dialed as a PSTN number or as a D-Life VoIP number, and what melody you want to play when that person calls you. If you want to always call a contact through D-Life service, such as a long distance or international number, mark the number as a VoIP number.
