User and Security Information For your safe and efficient use of the radio, please read the information below.

Plug the AC adaptor cable into the adaptor jack located on the rear of the charger. Plug the AC adaptor into an AC outlet. Slide the battery pack or transceiver with a battery pack into the charger. Make sure the battery pack contacts are in contact with the charging terminals. The charger LED lights and charging begins. After charging the supplied battery pack for 4 hours, remove it or the transceiver equipped with it from the charger. The charger turn to green automatically after charging is completed.
Push the battery pack to the connection of chassis and push down the battery locker To remove the battery pack, pull up the battery locker and slide the pack away from the transceiver. Installing the Antenna Screw the antenna into the connector on the top of the transceiver by holding the antenna at its base and turning it clockwise until secure. Note: Don’t use the antenna as handle, keychain or speaker/microphone hook, it will damage the antenna and affect the performance of the radio.
Installing the Belt Clip If necessary, buckle the belt clip to the back of the battery pack. Note: if not install the belt clip, the installation position may become hot during High Temperature belt clip CAUTION DO NOT USE GLUE WHICH IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT SCREW LOOSENING WHEN INSTALLING THE BELT CLIP,AS IT MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE TRANSCEIVER. ACRYLIC ESTER, WHICH IS CONTAINED IN THESE GLUES, MAY CRACK THE TRANSCEIVER'S BACK PANEL.
Speaker/Microphone /port cover Introduction Powering UP the Radio Rotate the On/Off/Volume Control Knob clockwise until you hear a click. The LED blinks green and the Home screen lights up if the backlight setting is set to turn on automatically. NOTE: The Home screen does not light up during a power up if the LED indicator is disabled. A brief tone sounds, indicating that the power up test is successful. There is no power up tone if the radio tones/alerts function is disabled.
Receiving and Responding to a Radio Call To receive a call from a group of users, your radio must be configured as part of that group. When you receive a Group Call: 1. The LED blinks green. 2. The first line of the display shows the caller alias, and the RSSI icon. The second line displays the group alias and the Group Call icon(in Digital mode only) 3. Making a Call with the Channel Selector Knob Making a Group Call To make a call to a group of users, your radio must be configured as part of that group. Procedure: 1. The One Touch Access feature allows you to make a Group or Private Call to a predefined alias or ID easily. This feature can be assigned to a short or long programmable button press. You can only have one alias or ID assigned to a One Touch Access button. Your radio can have multiple One Touch Access buttons programmed. Procedure: 1. Press the programmed One Touch Access button to make a Group or Private Call to the predefined alias or ID. 2. Press the PTT button to make the call.
You can use the 3x4 alphanumeric keypad to access your radio’s feature. You can use the keypad to enter subscriber aliases or IDs, and text message. Many characters require that you press a key multiple times. The table below shows the number of times a key needs to be pressed to generate the required character. Press button to Contacts and press [OK] button to or select. or 3. Press button to the required group alias or ID 4. Press [PTT] button to make the call, release the PTT button to listen, when any user in the group responds, the LED blinks green. You see Group Call icon on your display.
Storing an Alias or ID from the Missed Call list Procedure: 1. Press [MENU] to access the menu. or 2. Press button to Call Log and press [OK] to select. 3. Press button to Missed and press [OK] to select. or 4. Press button to required missed call alias or ID and or press [OK] to select. 5. Press to Store and press [OK] to select. or 6. A blinking cursor appears. If needed, key in the alias for that ID and press [OK] button. 7. The display shows Contact Saved. You can also input an ID without an alias.
Making a Call Alert from the Contact List Procedure: 1. Press [MENU] to access the menu. or 2. Press to Contacts and press [OK] to select. 3. Press to the required subscriber alias or ID and or press [OK] to select. OR press to Manual Dial and or press [OK] button twice to select, the display shows a blinking cursor, input the subscriber ID you want to page and press [OK] button. or 4. Press button to Call Alert and press [OK] button.
Your radio supports a maximum of 50 Quick Text messages as programmed by your dealer. While Quick Text messages are predefined, you can edit each message before sending it. Procedure: 1. Press [MENU] button enter into menu mode. 2. Press to Message and press [OK] to select. or 3. Press to Quick Text and press [OK] to select. or 4. Press to required Quick Text and press [OK] to select. or 5. A blinking cursor appears. Use the keypad to edit the message, if to move one space to the left. Press or required.

You can select one of the following options while viewing a sent text message: Resend Forward Edit Delete Procedure: 1. Press [OK] again while viewing the message. 2. Press to Resend and press [OK] to send message. or 3. The display shows Text Message: , confirming that the same message is being sent to the same target radio. 4. If the message is sent, a tone sounds and the display shows Message Sent.
Reading a Text Message Procedure: 1. Press to Read? And press [OK] to select. or 2. Selected message in the Inbox opens, press [OK] to return to Home Screen or press enter into Read Later or Delete or option screen. Select Read Later to return to the screen you were on prior to receiving the text message. Select Delete to delete the text message. Managing Received Text Message Use the Inbox to manage your text messages. The Inbox is capable of storing a maximum of 50 messages.

If your radio receives a scrambled call that is of a different Key Value and Key ID, you will hear chaos sound. You can preprogram 16 groups privacy, encryption keys by software, press programmed Privacy button to Turn On or Turn off Privacy. If the radio has a privacy type assigned, the Home screen shows the secure or insecure icon. Dual Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) DTMF receive/transmit signal has four systems (set by software), can set 32 groups encode, each group can set 30 characters.

Responding to a Scan During scanning, your radio stops on a channel/group where activity is detected. The radio stays on that channel for a programmed time period known as “hang time”.
Setting the Squelch Level You can adjust your radio’s squelch level to filter out unwanted calls with low signal strength or channels that have a higher than normal background noise. Settings: Normal is the default. Tight filters out (unwanted) calls and/or background noise. However, calls from remote locations may also be filtered out. Press the programmed Squelch button to toggle squelch level between normal and tight. Procedure: 1. Press [MENU] to access the menu. 2.

Controlling the Display Backlight You can enable or disable the radio’s display backlight as needed. The setting also affects the Menu Navigation Buttons and keypad backlighting accordingly.
