Instructions / Assembly

Before you begin !
READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND IN FULL BEFORE
USING THE PRODUCT.
Please note that these instructions only contain general
information and recommendations for using ROS UltraLight
products. These instructions are purely informative. In case of
doubt, you must seek independent advice from authorised
personnel (on site) regarding the use, application and
installation of this product. Check the local building
regulations to ensure that the use of this product meets the
requirements for proper construction.
ROS UltraLight may only be used as decorative wall
panelling for indoor areas.
Avoid any kind of surface contamination when handling,
as this is often difficult to remove.
We recommend using a specially developed system
product: Assembly adhesive = Loctite Power Grab
Ultimate Construction Adhesive or Equal.
Use correct (and clean) tools when handling. We
recommend using a spirit level, a utility knife, a folding
ruler, a square, a pencil and a skeleton gun.
UltraLight products can withstand temperatures between
minimum +5°C (+41°F) and maximum +50°C (+122°F).
Apply the product at temperatures between +15°C
(+59°F) and +35°C (+95°F).
Substrate
Ensure that the substrate is solid, flat, viable, stressless,
clean, dry and free of dust, dirt or separating layers.
Carry out all necessary preparations on the wall’s
surface, such as cleaning, repairing damage to the
surface, removing loose layers (e.g. wallpaper) and
paint/coatings, repairing, evening out and priming
plaster.
Warning! Walls freshly plastered with gypsum must be
sanded down and dusted before being worked on.
Priming is required for this type of application.
The assessment of the condition and suitability of the
substrate must take place on site and is your
responsibility. If in doubt, seek specialist advice.
Installing the products
Before installing the products, use a spirit level to check
whether the area where you intend to use the products
is straight. To do this, apply a vertical stop to the wall,
possibly using a wooden slat or a metal profile.
Note the following assembly restrictions:
1. UltraLight products are not suitable for assembly in
close proximity to heat sources such as chimneys
and ovens where temperatures above +50 °C
(+122°F) can occur over prolonged periods or
where the products can come into contact with
fire.
2. Assembly on walls that are or may be used
intensively must also be avoided.
! UltraLight products are installed from the bottom up!
Always check the products thoroughly before handling
them. Always lay out a few stones (e.g. 3–5 m
2
/ 32-54 ft
2
)
ready near the work area. This helps when calculating
the right distribution and ensures faster assembly. You
can easily correct sizes using a fine-toothed handsaw.
Install the UltraLight products randomly to achieve the
best results.
Apply the adhesive lengthways to the back of the
individual UltraLight products evenly up to max. 15 mm
(0.6 inches) from the edge.
Install the product in the right position.
Do not use too much adhesive. Remove excess
adhesive residue immediately using a clean, damp
sponge.
Press the UltraLight product firmly to ensure good
adhesion to the substrate.
Minor adjustments can be made to the position of the
stone after bonding.
Check that the panels are still level every 2-3 rows.
Adjust where necessary.
Trimming the products: To ensure the ROS UltraLight
elements line up well next to each other, you can
trim/shorten them using a fine-toothed handsaw or a
utility knife. To ensure that shortened edges are not
visible, rotate them (downwards when below eye height;
upwards when above eye height).
Stresses on the substrate or on the UltraLight product
should be avoided.
Maintenance & cleaning
When cleaning, do not use acidic products, pressure
cleaners, sandblast equipment, chemical detergents or
steel brushes as they may damage the surface.
Use a clean, soft and perhaps slightly damp cloth for
cleaning.
Additional treatment
The non-acrylic coated uniformly colored UltraLight
products, such as the UL Benvento and the UL Tasso can
be coated with a solvent-free emulsion paint. To ensure
you receive good advice and obtain the desired effect,
we recommend taking a piece of the UltraLight product
with you to your specialist/local retailer. The user and the
manufacturer of the treatment agent are responsible for
the performance/effect of the agent. Read the
instructions for using the treatment agent carefully and
follow them exactly. We recommend that you always
test the product on a small area first before applying it to
the entire surface.
Leave the ROSadhesive to dry for at least 24 hours
before processing the UltraLight product any further.
General information
ROS UltraLight must only be used inside in dry, well-
ventilated areas. The products must not be used under
water or come into contact with water. If in doubt, seek
specialist advice from your supplier.
Dimensions: All measurements are nominal values and
are subject to manufacturing tolerances. We are
continually working to renew and improve our products.
ROS therefore reserves the right to change the design
and specifications without prior notice.
Colours: The colours of all ROS products may vary.
Occasionally our products are produced at different
times and contain organic components, which is why
identical colours and shades cannot be guaranteed.
These variations highlight the natural appearance of
Klimex products and do not have any effect on the
technical suitability of the products.
Conditions: In the unlikely event that you are dissatisfied
with the condition in which you received the products,
inform the retailer of this immediately. Warning: If you
install a product that has been deemed defective prior
to use, we shall not be held liable for any costs resulting
from the use of these faulty products. While we
endeavour to advise you as best we can, ROS shall not
be held liable for any loss, damage or injury due to
following this advice. We shall not be liable if products
have been used for any purpose other than the
intended purpose or if damage occurs due to non-
compliance with our advice.
Health & safety
Always read the instructions for use and the guidelines for the
product you are using first. If in doubt always seek specialist
advice first.
CAUTION: UltraLight paneling is an expanded polystyrene
foam (EPS) based product and is combustible. Care should
be taken in installing panels to allow for space between
panels and heat producing appliances / ignition sources.
Consult your local building code authority for guidelines and
requirements.
