In-Home Repeater User’s Manual / Installation Instructions
You will find two antennas and an AC power transformer in your in-home repeater
package. To achieve the best possible performance within your home, follow the
instructions outlined below:
The In-Home Repeater will work best within a room that has the best signal strength
coming from a cell tower. Have your cell phone on and with you as you test the
different areas of the house where you would like to use the repeater. If your cell
phone is not receiving any signal within a room, the In-Home Repeater will not be
able to create a signal. The In-Home Repeater only is able to improve a signal that is
already present.
Position the donor antenna (unit with suction cups and transmission cable) towards
the top of the glass on a window in a room where you would like to improve an
existing signal. The unit should be a minimum of 1-inch below the window frame to
simplify removal of antenna from suction cups. Donor antenna should be positioned
so that the transmission cable is coming out the bottom of the unit.
Connect the donor antenna to the re-rad antenna (larger unit with LED indicators)
with the transmission cable. Position the re-rad antenna on the floor and off to the
side of the donor antenna (FIGURE 1). Positioning of these two antennas is very
important. Once you plug the re-rad antenna into your standard home outlet, the left-
most LED should be green indicating the system is installed correctly. If the LED is
either yellow or red, first confirm the distance between the two antennas is correct. If
the distances are correct, make sure there are no physical obstructions (namely metal
objects) that could cause interference near the two antennas. To achieve optimum
performance this LED must be green. However, the system will operate at a reduced
performance level if the LED is yellow. If the LED is red, try re-positioning the
antennas.
The five other LEDs (right side) on the re-rad antenna indicate the receive strength
from the base station. You should have 2 – 5 LEDs lit for the system to be operable.
If at least 2 LEDs are not lit, you may want to move the In-Home Repeater to another
location.
Re-Rad Antenna/Cell Phone Initialization
After following the steps above, your antennas are positioned properly, the single,
left-most LED is green or yellow and at least two of the five remaining LEDs are lit.
You will now initialize your cell phone to the re-rad antenna.
Place a call on your cell phone to 800-523-6910, ext. 3737. While you listen to the
recorded message, press the initialization button found on the back of the re-rad
antenna (FIGURE 2). If initialization is successful, the left-most LED will flash green
several times. If initialization failed, this same LED will flash red several times.
Carefully watch this LED, as it will return to the original color (yellow or green) after
initialization.
