GETTING STARTED Preparation 1. Adjust the grip belt. Release the Velcro tape on the grip belt and adjust the belt length. After adjusting the length, refasten the Velcro tape firmly. 2. Open the battery cover. 3. Insert the supplied battery with correct orientation as shown. Close the battery cover and make sure it is locked securely. 4. Insert an SD memory card (Optional). The digital video camera does not have built-in memory and cannot operate without an SD memory card inserted.
Turning the Power On/Off Load the battery and insert an SD memory card before starting. Slide the power switch until the digital video camera turns on. To turn the power off, slide the power switch again. The power is turned off automatically when the digital video camera has not been operated for a defined period of time. To resume operation, turn the power on again. Refer to section in this manual titled “Auto Off” in the setup menu for further details.

About the Remote Control The remote control allows you to photograph or play images and videos from a distance. Effective Range The following limitations apply to the range of the remote control: Distance: Up to roughly 23 feet (7 meters) from the camera. Angle: Within an angle of 15° up, down, left or right relative to the remote control sensor on the camera. The above applies to indoor use.
Loading the Battery Use the bundled coin-shaped CR2025 lithium battery. Slide open the battery cover in the lower section of the rear side of the remote control. Insert the battery with the plus symbol (+) facing upwards and then close the battery cover. Take care not to reverse the (+) and (-) sides of the battery. Inserting the battery with its polarities facing the wrong way might cause fire or injury, or damage to the surrounding area due to the battery rupturing or leaking.
Setting the Date and Time The date/time needs to be set if/when: The digital video camera is turned on for the first time. The digital video camera is turned on after being left without battery for an extended period of time. 1. Slide the power switch until the digital video camera turns on. 2. Press the MENU button. 3. Move the OK button to f to enter [Setup] menu. 4. Move the OK button to c / d to select [Date/ Time], and press the OK button.
Formatting the Memory Card This utility formats the SD memory card and deletes all stored images, video clips, and data. 1. Press the MENU button. 2. Move the OK button to f to enter [Setup] menu. 3. Move the OK button to c / d to select [Format], and press the OK button. 4. Move the OK button to c / d to select [Yes], and press the OK button. RECORDING MODE Your digital video camera is equipped with a 3.0" full colour LTPS LCD monitor to help you capture/playback images and video clips or adjust menu settings. Recording Video Clips 1. Slide the power switch until the digital video camera turns on. The default mode is recording mode. The / LED lights green. 2. Compose the image on the LCD monitor. 3. Press the REC button to start recording. 4. To stop recording, press the REC button again.
Using the Zoom Function This digital video camera is equipped with 4x digital zoom. You may enlarge the subject by moving the zoom lever towards T. While digital zoom can be a useful feature, the more an image is enlarged (zoomed), the more pixelated (grainier) the image will appear. To capture a zoomed image/video clip, perform the following steps: 1. Compose the image on the LCD monitor. Move the zoom lever towards T to zoom in on the subject and enlarge the subject on the LCD monitor.
Setting the Focus Images/Video clips can be recorded with the focus determined automatically using auto focus. You may also specify [ ] macro or [Q] infinity mode. 1. In recording mode, move the OK button to c (FOCUS) as shown. Focus setting screen will be displayed. 2. Move the OK button to c / d to select the desired focus setting, and press the OK button.
Setting the Scene Mode By simply selecting one of the following 9 modes, you can capture still images/video clips with most appropriate settings. 1. In recording mode, move the OK button to d (SCN) as shown. Scene setting screen will be displayed. 2. Move the OK button to c / d to select the desired scene setting, and press the OK button.
Exposure Compensation/Backlight Correction Images can be captured with the overall scene intentionally made brighter or darker. These settings are used when a suitable brightness (exposure) cannot be obtained in circumstances where the difference in brightness between the subject and the background (the contrast) is large, or when the subject that you wish to capture is very small within the scene. Exposure can be set in 1/3 EV units. Setting Exposure Compensation 1.
AUDIO MODE Recording Audio Files The digital video camera enables you to record and playback audio files anytime and anywhere. 1. Press the MODE button to switch to audio mode. PLAYBACK MODE You can play back all the recorded files on the LCD monitor. Playing Back Still Images 1. Press the MODE button to switch to playback mode. The LED lights green. The last recorded file appears on the LCD monitor. 2. Move the OK button to e / f to select the desired still image. 3. Move the zoom lever towards T to adjust the zoom ratio. The magnification factor is displayed on the LCD monitor. 4.
Playing Back Still Images/Video Clips on TV You can also playback your images on a TV screen. Before connecting to any devices, make sure to select NTSC / PAL system to match the video output system of the video equipment you are going to connect to the digital video camera, then turn all connected devices off. 1. Connect one end of the AV cable to the A/V OUT terminal of the digital video camera. 2. Connect the other end to the AV input socket of the TV set. 3. Turn the TV and digital video camera on.
Thumbnail Display This function allows you to view thumbnail images on the LCD monitor so you may search for a particular image/video clip/audio file. 1. In playback mode, move the zoom lever towards W. 3 thumbnail images are displayed simultaneously. 2. Move the OK button to c / d to select the file to be displayed. Move the OK button to e / f to go to previous or next page. 3. Press the OK button to exit from thumbnail display.
Protecting Images/Video Clips/Audio Files Set the data to read-only to prevent files from being deleted by mistake. Protecting One File 1. Press the MODE button to switch to playback mode. 2. Move the OK button to e / f to select the file you want to protect. 3. Press the MENU button. 4. Move the OK button to c / d to select [Protect], and press the OK button. 5. Select [Single] and press the OK button. The selected file is protected. To cancel protection, perform step 1 to 5 again.
Deleting Images/Video Clips/Audio Files 1. Press the MODE button to switch to playback mode. 2. Move the OK button to e / f to select the file you want to delete. 3. Press the MENU button. 4. Move the OK button to c / d to select [Delete File], and press the OK button. If the selected file is protected, [Delete File] menu cannot be entered. 5. Select [Yes] and press the OK button. The selected file is deleted. To delete all the stored files, select [Delete All] in step 4.
DPOF Settings DPOF is the abbreviation for Digital Print Order Format, which allows you to embed printing information on your memory card. You can select the images to be printed and how many prints to make with the DPOF menu in the camera and insert the memory card to the card compatible printer. When the printer starts printing, it will read the embedded information on the memory card and print the specified images. 1. Press the MODE button to switch to playback mode. 2.

Contrast This sets the degree of difference between light and dark in video clips or images that will be captured. You can use this function to heighten or soften the contrast and change the tone of the images. * Standard / Hard / Soft Sharpness This sets the sharpness of the video clips or images that will be captured. * Standard / Hard / Soft Self-timer This activates the self-timer and sets the delay time. * Off / 2 Sec. / 10 Sec.
