Preface About this Guide This manual is a setup and maintenance guide that can be used for reference when setting up and using the SCS software. The following text and symbols mark special messages throughout this guide: WARNING: Text set off in this manner indicates that failure to follow directions could result in bodily harm or loss of life. 1.1 SCS Overview SCS stands for Network DVR Management Software. SCS is a powerful utility that allows 100 or more DVR units to be controlled using one computer. This software allows you to view live video, search saved video, edit and configure setup on each DVR, and import maps of buildings and other locations. The SCS software was specifically designed as an Enterprise software solution. 1.
1.3 Main Display Screen 1 5 2 6 3 4 7 8 9 Figure 1.3 1 Menu Options – The Menu Options contain all the available options for configuring and viewing cameras. 2 4 Toolbar – The Toolbar contains buttons such as split screen display icons and shortcut icons to options such as setup wizard. Screen TABs – These Tabs organize the open Windows. You can have multiple screens open (such as MAPs, Log Viewer, Live View, and Search) and change to them simply by clicking on the tabs.
9 1.4 Page/Channel – Each 36 Camera view can be separated into multiple split screens. These screens are called pages (ex. The 4x4 split would have a total of nine Pages). The Channel is simply the order of the camera in the 36 Channel Camera view. Toolbar Each time the DVR is restarted, the program defaults to the Display screen. The following diagram outlines the buttons and features used on the Display screen.
1.5 Connection Window The Connection window displays the current DVRs configured in the Site List. The DVRs can be displayed with all the cameras showing or can have the cameras minimized. 1 2 3 Figure 1.5 Figure 1.5 1 DVR Site – Displays the Site Name of the DVR. To hide the cameras select the + or – next to the icon. 2 Camera Folder – Displays the folder that contains the Cameras. 3 Cameras – Displays the cameras attached to the DVR unit. 2.1 Site Setup As many as 100 DVR units can be connected to the SCS at any given time. 1 2 3 4 5 Figure 2.1 6 7 8 9 Figure 2.1 1 DVR List – Displays the current list of added DVRs. 2 DVR Name – This is a name that is used to easily identify the DVR unit. (Ex. Exxon E Sprague) 3 IP/URL – Specifies the IP Address (or URL) of the DVR. This is used to connect to the DVR. 4 5 DVR Port – Allows you to enter the port that the DVR uses to transfer the data.
2.1.1 Adding a New Site Adding a New Site 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) Select the SITE MANAGER file menu option and select SITE LIST SETUP. The SITE LIST SETUP window will open. Select the NEW button. Enter in all the required information. Refer to section 2.1 in this manual and also to the DVR Operations Manual for more information. When finished entering the information select the ADD button. 6) 7) Press the OK button to save and close the USER REGISTRATION window. The user that has just been created should now be listed in the USER CONTROL WIZARD window. Press OK to return to the main SCS screen. Editing a Users Password and Grouping Level 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) Select the SCS file menu option and select USER WIZARD. The USER CONTROL WIZARD window should open. Click on the user you wish to edit and press the UDPATE button (Figure 2.2b). The CHANGE PASSWORD & LEVEL window should open.

The CHANGE PASSWORD & LEVEL window should open. Enter and confirm a new password. Press OK to save and exit the CHANGE PASSWORD & LEVEL window.
2.2.2 Granting Users permission to Log in to DVRs In order for a user to be allowed to log in to a DVR, they must first be given the proper privileges. Only those who have the CONNECTION WIZARD privilege can define which users can open DVRs. Granting a User Privilege to open a DVR. 1) 2) 3) Select the SITE MANAGER file menu option and select CONNECTION WIZARD. The SITE CONNECTION WIZARD window should open (Figure 2.2a).
2.4 SCS Options To open the SCS options select SCS>SCS OPTIONS. 1 6 7 8 9 10 2 3 4 5 Figure 2.4 Figure 2.4 1 Write SCS Log – Writes information such as User Logins to the SCS log file. 2 Auto Load Settings (On LogOff) – Loads user-specific settings when the User logs on. 3 Auto Save Settings (On LogOff) – Saves the user-specific settings when the User logs off. 4 Save Live Display Settings – Manually saves the currently selected user-specific settings.
7 8 9 10 2.5 Video Loss Event – This option select the color of the animated alarm (on the Map Editor) that occurs when Video Loss has occurred. Motion Event – This option select the color of the animated alarm (on the Map Editor) that occurs when a Motion Event has occurred. Sensor Event – This option selects the color of the animated alarm (on the Map Editor) that occurs when a Sensor Event has occurred. Alarm Notification Time – Sets the duration for the alarms that are sent to the DVR.

3.1 Connecting to a DVR and Viewing Video Once the DVR has been added as a Site, connecting to it is easy. Connecting to a DVR and Viewing Video 1) 2) Right click on a DVR inside the CONNECTION WINDOW (See Section 1.2) and select the CONNECT SITE option. Icons representing cameras will be displayed beneath the DVR in the CONNECTION WINDOW. Drag a camera you want to view onto the MAIN DISPLAY AREA. Right clicking on a camera in the CONENCTION WINDOW brings up several options.
3.3 Using Multiple Windows (TABS) The SCS software can now have multiple windows open at any given time. The organization of these windows is done by using Tabs, and by clicking on a given tab you can jump from one window to another. 3.4 Multiple Monitor Support You can use multiple monitors with the SCS Software. This can be beneficial if you would like to have the Map Editor open, the Search window open, and the Live View open at the same time.

4.1 Map Overview The SCS software is capable of importing maps and associating cameras and sensors to locations on the map. 4.2 8 Clear All Sensors – This option clears any sensors that have been placed onto the map. 9 Original Size – This option resizes the map to its original size. 10 Zoom In – This option zooms in on the selected map. 11 Zoom Out – This option zooms out on the selected map. Importing a Map You have the option to import as many maps as you wish. The Maps when imported are listed in alphabetic order.
5) 6) 7) Select a Camera or Sensor. Select the Type of Camera or Sensor(Color). Press OK. The CAMERA (or SENSOR) INFO window should close. Figure 4.

5.1 Backup Options Overview The BACKUP OPTIONS window allows you to select the video you wish to save and also the location of where to save it. 1 2 7 3 4 5 6 Figure 5.1 Backup Options Window Figure 5.1 1 2 3 Error Message –This box displays any problems encountered with the current selected options. For example: If the amount of video selected exceeds the storage capacity of the CD-RW Disc, then a message will be displayed.
5.2 4 Receiving Data – This is a status bar that indicates the progress of the backup. 5 Start Backup – This option begins the backup process. 6 Stop – This option stops a backup that is in process. 7 Hour/Minute – The overall time displayed in the Hour/Minute chart is 24 Hours. This is broken down into 10 minute increments. The color coded boxes represent either, No data, Recorded Data, or Selected Data (See the Description Box). You can select a time by clicking on one the boxes.

6.1 Search Overview The SCS Software has several options that allow you to easily search through, and find, a particular section of video. From Motion indexing and Sensor indexing to calendar views showing which days have recorded video, the SCS Software is designed to help you quickly find what you’re looking for. 1 2 5 6 4 3 7 8 9 Figure 6.1 1 Select Date – Opens a calendar window and allows you to select a day to perform a search on.
6.2 7 images are taken from the first second of each hour). When an image is selected, the ‘hour’ chosen is then broken down into 6 images, one image for every 10 minute increment. Finally when another image is selected, 10 images are displayed, one for every minute within the 10 minute period. From this point, the selected image can be applied to the Main Search. Hour / Minute Control Bar – Allows you to select the hour and minute by adjusting the sliding bar.
1 Figure 6.3 1 2 3 4 5 6.4 JPG File – Saving to a JPG File allows you to export a single image (or frame). AVI File– Saving to an AVI File allows you to save a video clip. Time To Save (Sec) – Allows you to enter a duration to record the AVI for (in seconds). Although 100 Seconds is the longest displayed, you can manually enter a longer time. Quality – Often times it is necessary to reduce the overall size of an AVI file (When you wish to email it to someone for example).

The first screen that appears has 24 images displayed. Each image represents the first second of each hour.
5) 6) 7) To select a displayed 1 minute segment of video to begin playing it, simply double-click on the image. A single image should now be displayed. You can move back to the previous 10 image view by right clicking on an image. You can now use the Play controls to play the video. To Apply the current image to the Main Search, that is, exit out of Preview search with the current image still selected, simply deselect the Preview Search Button.

7.1 SCS Log The SCS Log keeps track of when the software was opened and closed and who logged in/logged out.
7.2 The Alarm Log The Alarm Log allows to you to view different types of alarms that are coming from the DVR. These alarms include, Video Signal Loss and Sensor alarms. You can filter through the different types of alarms by selecting the Filter button. If you double-click an alarm entry, the search window will open with the associated DVR, camera, and time related to the event already selected.
