The Brake Drum may contact or rub the Backing Plate when an Electric Brake Kit (44942 or
44943) is installed on a pre-2011 model Toro or TyCrop MH 400. As an ongoing product
improvement to the braking system of the Material Handler 400, new electric brakes and wheel
hubs were incorporated starting with 2011 production. This change may affect the pre-2011 units
after installing either Electric Brake Kit (44942 or 44943) due to the difference in the Hub
dimensions. The 0.300” (7.62 mm) hub height difference may cause the installed Brake Drum to
contact the Backing Plate, causing a scrubbing sound as the wheel is rotated.
Solution:
For each position that will have a new brake assembly installed, either replace each older-style
Hub with Hub (T54031039) or have the old-style Hub machined to remove the extra height.
Machining may not be the most economical choice.
