SafeOperatingPractices
Thismachineiscapableofamputatinghandsandfeetandof
throwingobjects.Alwaysfollowallsafetyinstructionstoavoid
seriousinjuryordeath.
Thismachineisdesignedforcuttingandmulchinggrassor,when
equippedwithagrassbag,forcatchingcutgrass.Anyusefor
purposesotherthanthesecouldprovedangeroustoyouorto
bystanders.
GeneralOperation
•Readthismanualcarefullybeforeoperatingthemachine.
Becomefamiliarwiththecontrolsandproperuseofthe
machine.Neverallowchildrenunder16yearsofageto
operatethemachine.Neverallowadultstooperatemachine
withoutproperinstructions.
•Theoperatorofthemachineisresponsibleforkeeping
everyone,especiallychildrenandpets,awayfromarea
ofoperation.Theoperatorisresponsibleforaccidentsor
hazardsoccurringtootherpeopleortheirproperty.
•Thoroughlyinspectareawherethemachinewillbeused,
andremovesticks,stones,wire,anddebristhatcouldbe
pickedupandthrownbymachine.Watchforforeignobjects
whilemowing.Objectsstruckbythebladecancausesevere
injuriestopeople.
•Wearlongpantsandsubstantialshoes.Donotoperate
themachinewhilewearingopen-toedshoes,jewelry,loose
clothingorwhenbarefoot.Userubberglovesandfootwear
whenworkingoutdoors.
•Keepallguards,shields,safetydevices,grasscatcheror
optionalsidedischargechuteinplace.Repairorreplace
damagedparts,includingdecals.Nevertamperwithsafety
devices.Checktheirproperoperationregularly.
•Themotorandbladearedesignedtostopwithin3seconds
afterreleasingthecontrolbail.Ensurethatthecontrolbail
functionsproperlybeforeeachuseofmachine.Iftheblade
doesnotstopwithin3seconds,orifthereisagrindingor
scrapingmetal-to-metalnoisewhenyoureleasethecontrol
bail,contactanAuthorizedT oroServiceDealerforproper
On/Offandblade-brakeadjustmentorreplacement.
•Beforeusing,alwaysvisuallyinspecttoseethattheblades,
bladefasteners,andcutterassemblyarenotwornor
damaged.Replacewornordamagedbladesandfasteners
insetstopreservebalance.
•Useonlythoseaccessoriesandattachmentsdesigned
forthismachine.Usinganyaccessoryorattachmentnot
designedforthisproductmayincreasetheriskofinjury.See
theinstructionsfortheproperoperationandinstallationof
accessories.
SafeOperatingPractices
•Donotinsertthekeyintotheplugreceptacleuntilyouare
readytomow.
•Donotoperatethemachineingaseous,explosive
atmospheres.Normalsparkingofthemotorcouldignite
fumes.
•Startthemotorcarefullyaccordingtoinstructions,withfeet
wellawayfromtheblade.
•Usetherightappliance—Donotusethemachineforanyjob
exceptthatforwhichitisintended.
•Stayalert—Watchwhatyouaredoing.Donotoperatethe
machinewhenyouaretiredorundertheinuenceofdrugs,
alcohol,ormedication.
•Bealertandturnthemachineoffifchildrenenterthearea.
