Installation

Settheparkingbrake,stoptheengine,removethekey,and

waitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating

position.

1.Locateandremovethetimedrelaybypullingupon

therelayhousing.

2.Usingavolt/ohm,identifythelocationoftherelaycoil

groundbycheckingcontinuitybetweenthebattery

negativeterminalandtherelayreceptacleinthe

positionnotedFigure1.

Note:Thepolaritymustbecorrectforthetimedelay

relaytofunctionproperly.

1.Checkthecontinuityhere.

Ifthetestrevealsthatthecontinuityistothebattery

negativeterminal,thepolarityiscorrectandthetime

relaycanbeinstalled.Gotostep12.

Iftestingdoesnotrevealcontinuitytothebattery

negativeterminal,thepowerandgroundterminals

needtobeexchanged.Gotostep

3.Disconnectthemachine’snegativebatteryterminal.

4.Removethemountinghardwarefortherelayreceptacle

toaccessthewiringconnectors.

5.Pushupwardfromthebottomoftherelayreceptacle

onthewireyouintendtoremove.

6.Usingasmallscrewdriverorpick,pushdownfromthe

topofthereceptacleonthenarrowsideoftheopening.

Note:Theterminallockingtabwillcompressallowing

theterminalandwiretoberemovedfromthebottom

ofthereceptacle.

7.Repeatfortheoppositesideterminal.

8.Verifycontinuityfromthebatterynegativecabletothe

terminalnotedonFigure1.

9.Verifythatthelockingtabisprotrudingfromthe

femaleconnector(refertoFigure2)toassureapositive

lockintotherelayreceptacle.Bendthetaboutif

necessary.

Locate and remove the timed relay by pulling up on the relay housing. 2.

ON 1 2 g024497 Figure 3 13. Using a small screw driver, rotate the adjustment dial, located on the top of the relay, clockwise as far as it will go (refer to Figure 3). 14. Install the relay onto the machine. 15. Connect battery negative terminal. 16. Start the machine, move the transport lever so that the machine is not in neutral, and raise off of the seat to verify that the engine stops after approximately 2.5 seconds. If the machine does not stop, check that the relay settings are correct.
