This bulletin contains information on the correct use of the various oil seals used in the Flex
Greensmower gearbox assembly for the models and serial ranges listed above.
Seal-Oil (117-1443) can only be used on gearboxes that have been modified with Replacement
Cover Kit (117-1461). The image above represents a gearbox with the vent modification. 2009
Flexes have the vent modification from the factory. On product built before 2009, the cover kit can
be added as an option to allow use of Seal-Oil (117-1443), or the differential axle shaft seals can be
replaced with Seal-Oil (99-3842). Under no circumstances should the Seal-Oil (117-1443) seal be
installed on a machine without first replacing the original non-vented cover with a vented cover.
Non-vented gearboxes should only use Seal-Oil (99-3842) in the differential axle shaft locations
when replacing seals.
Shaft-Fork – use Seal-Oil (99-3842
or 107-8132)
Differential Axle Shafts – use Seal-Oil (117-1443)
Must use Seal Installer Tool (TOR6009) for seal
installation; this tool can be obtained from your local
Toro Commercial Products Distributor. Use Seal-Oil
(99-3842) on non-vented gearboxes.
Reel Drive Output Shaft –
use Seal-Oil (105-2429).
This is red; all others are
black.
