Checking the Engine-Oil Level CAUTION If the engine has been running, the muffler will be hot and can severely burn you. Service Interval: Before each use or daily 1. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth. Keep away from the hot muffler. 2. Fully insert the dipstick. 3. If the oil level is low, slowly pour oil into the oil-fill tube, wait 3 minutes, and check the oil level on the dipstick by wiping the dipstick clean and then inserting the dipstick into the tube (Figure 10). 1.

Starting the Engine Using the Self-Propel Drive 1. Hold the blade-control bar against the handlebar (Figure 12). Operating Tips Shutting Off the Engine Release the blade-control bar. General Mowing Tips Important: When you release the blade control bar, the blade should stop within 3 seconds. If it does not stop properly, stop using your machine immediately and contact an Authorized Service Dealer. • Clear the area of sticks, stones, wire, branches, and other debris that the blade could hit. • Avoid striking solid objects with the blade. Never deliberately mow over any object.

5. Fill the engine with oil until the dipstick indicates that the engine-oil level is correct as shown in Figure 17. If you overfill the engine with oil, remove the excess oil. 6. Install the dipstick and tighten it securely. 7. Dispose of the used oil properly at a local recycling center. Adjusting the Self-Propel Cable Service Interval: Every 25 hours 1. Shut off the engine. 2. Pull the machine backward while slowly engaging the self-propel bar until the rear rollers lock.
