Setup 2 Important: Remove and discard the protective plastic sheet that covers the engine. Assembling the Grass Bag 1 No Parts Required Procedure Unfolding the Handle 1. Insert the frame into the grass bag, keeping the handle above the grass bag (Figure 4). No Parts Required Procedure 2 WARNING Assembling and unfolding the handle improperly can damage the cables, causing an unsafe operating condition. • Do not damage the cables when assembling and unfolding the handle.

Slowly pour oil into the oil-fill tube, wait 3 minutes, and check the oil level on the dipstick by wiping the dipstick clean and then fully inserting the dipstick into the tube (Figure 6). g018153 Figure 5 1. Operation Filling the Fuel Tank DANGER Gasoline is extremely flammable and explosive. A fire or explosion from gasoline can burn you and others. • To prevent a static charge from igniting the gasoline, place the container and/or machine directly on the ground before filling, not in a vehicle or on an object. • Fill the tank outdoors when the engine is cold. Wipe up spills. • Do not handle gasoline when smoking or around an open flame or sparks.

Checking the Engine Oil Level CAUTION If the engine has been running, the muffler will be hot and can severely burn you. Service Interval: Before each use or daily 1. Remove the dipstick and wipe it with a clean cloth. Keep away from the hot muffler. 2. Fully insert the dipstick. 3. If the oil level is low, slowly pour oil into the oil-fill tube, wait 3 minutes, and check the oil level on the dipstick by wiping the dipstick clean and then inserting the dipstick into the tube (Figure 10). 1.

Starting the Engine Using the Self-propel Drive 1. Hold the blade-control bar against the handlebar (Figure 12). Stopping the Engine Operating Tips Release the blade-control bar. General Mowing Tips Important: When you release the blade control bar, the blade should stop within 3 seconds. If it does not stop properly, stop using your machine immediately and contact an Authorized Service Dealer. • Clear the area of sticks, stones, wire, branches, and other debris that the blade could hit. • Avoid striking solid objects with the blade. Never deliberately mow over any object.

Maintenance Note: Determine the left and right sides of the machine from the normal operating position. Carefully remove the foam filter and the cartridge together, then separate the foam filter from the cartridge (Figure 16). 5. If the filter is extremely dirty, replace it. 6.

5. Fill the engine with oil until the dipstick indicates that the engine oil level is correct as shown in Figure 17. If you overfill the engine with oil, remove the excess oil. 6. Install the dipstick and tighten it securely. 7. Dispose of the used oil properly at a local recycling center. Adjusting the Self-propel Cable Service Interval: Every 25 hours 1. Stop the engine. 2. Pull the machine backward while slowly engaging the self-propel bar until the rear rollers lock.

Assemble the blade with the turned up edges facing toward the engine. Replacing the Blade 7. Secure the new blade in place with the bolt, washer, and spacer that you removed previously (Figure 23). Storage Store the machine in a cool, clean, dry place.
