Preface Congratulations on the purchase of your new POCSAG/ERMES pager. We are sure that you will appreciate its high performance and user friendly features. The operating concept together with its built-in help information for each icon ensures that your pager is extremely simple to use. Despite of its easy operation, it is recommended that you should read this manual carefully. Swissphone's alphanumeric pagers can be configured with many different options.

2 Standby mode In standby mode the pager shows its status with four corresponding status symbols. The following status symbols are implemented: Pager on Out of range Low battery New message Display 1 Pager on: The pager is ready for receiving messages. New message: The pager has received a new message. Out of range: If the pager cannot receive any signal, the out of range symbol will be on continuously.
3 Status display After setting date/time or alarm time, the pager shows the status display for a few seconds and then changes to standby mode. The status display includes the following: Alarm time Time Date Upper key (1) Middle key (2) Lower key (3) Mode of alert Vibrator on Illumination on message receipt on Number of new messages 3.1 Display Illumination To illuminate the display, press and hold middle key (2) for 2 sec. Press the middle key (2) again for 2 sec, to turn off the illumination.
4 Operating levels Basically the pager can be operated in two different modes, the simple and comprehensive mode. The simple mode avoids operating errors made by untrained users or during stress situations, whereby the comprehensive mode allows direct access to all menu functions of the pager. 4.1 Simple mode If the pager changes back to the stand-by mode, it automatically provides the simple mode, if activated.
5 Main menu The main menu is divided in four areas. The key icons, menu icons and function (submenu) icons as well as the function description. Key icons Menu icons Upper key (1) Middle key (2) Lower key (3) Function icons Function description 5.1 Key icons The three key icons on the left side of the display describe the function of the upper key (1), middle key (2) and lower key (3). These functions will depend upon the menu selected.
5.3 Function icons The icons on the last line represent the available functions of the chosen menu on the first line. The chosen icon is displayed inverse. Pressing the lower key (3) moves the selection to the right or to the left according to the arrow on the icon. Pressing the lower key more than 2 seconds changes also the direction. Each function is explained by a text in the middle of the display. Overview of the functions in the comprehensive operation mode: Menu Message (Chapter 6.
6 Description of menu functions On the main menu screen (see chapter 5), a menu and an appropriate function are selected with the upper and lower keys. The chosen icons are displayed inverse. Pressing the middle key (2) activates the selected function and its icon is displayed on the left side, next to the middle key. 6.1 Message menu 6.1.1 General If a function is chosen, the display shows the following main information.
If the cursor is located at the symbol of a message, • on the first line, the time and date of receipt of the message is displayed • on the second line, the address name is displayed • on the third line, the first line of the message text is displayed Depending on the configuration of the pager, the first row (time and date) is not displayed on receipt of a message. To display this header, the upper key (1) has to be pressed. 6.1.
6.2 Alert group If a new message has been received, the symbol ! appears and the pager alerts as described in the sections below. Basically there is a differentiation between priority calls and non priority calls. The setting of the alerts allows different acoustic and vibrating alarm dependant on the priority of the message. A different alarm scheme can be configured for each address. Each alarm can be stopped by pressing any key.
6.3.2 Set alarm clock Setting the alarm clock is done the same way as setting the time. To turn the alarm on (or off), the same steps have to be repeated as during setting, however without changing time and date. The alarm function is repeated daily. 6.4 Special menu 6.4.1 Switch off To set the pager out of operation, select the special menu in the main menu with the upper key (1) and with the lower key (3) the function ‘Switch off’, and confirm the selection with the middle key (2).

Do not insert a pager with an alkaline battery.
Reset pager With the following function you have the possibility to reset the pager. Please proceed as follows: - Remove battery Insert battery again and press the upper and lower button at the same time In the middle the text 'Factory reset?' is displayed Press the middle button, if you wish to reset the pager Under normal circumstances you will never need this function. Nevertheless if the pager shall 'hang', you can reset the pager to make it work properly again.
