English MultiSystem Guide to Using this Manual Pictograms All the pictograms attached to the machine are shown and explained in this manual. + Symbols in text + 0000-GXX-5900-A0 WARNING In the STIHL MultiSystem a number of different MultiEngines and MultiTools can be combined to produce a power tool. In this instruction manual the functional unit formed by the MultiEngine and MultiTool is referred to as the power tool.
English The use of noise emitting power tools may be restricted to certain times by national or local regulations. To operate the power tool you must be rested, in good physical condition and mental health. If you have any condition that might be aggravated by strenuous work, check with your doctor before operating a power tool. Persons with pacemakers only: The ignition system of your power tool produces an electromagnetic field of a very low intensity. This field may interfere with some pacemakers.

English Adjusting the bicycle handle Fuel 1 0000-GXX-0549-A1 This engine is certified to operate on unleaded gasoline and with the mix ratio 50:1. N Loosen the knob (1). N Swing the bicycle handle with both hands into the working position (as far as stop). N Tighten down the knob firmly. Your engine requires a mixture of highquality premium gasoline and highquality two-stroke air-cooled engine oil. Use premium branded unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 89 (R+M)/2.
English Fuel mix ratio Filling up with fuel Fueling Take care not to spill fuel while fueling and do not overfill the tank. STIHL recommends you use the STIHL filler nozzle (special accessory). Preparations Only mix sufficient fuel for a few days work, not to exceed 30 days of storage. Store in approved safety fuel-canisters only. To reduce the risk of injury from contact with rotating attachments, always stand to the side of the power tool. With your left hand on the carrying handle, press the unit firmly against the ground. Do not stand or kneel on the shaft. Pull the starter grip steadily.
English N After refueling, depress the manual fuel pump bulb at least five times – even if the bulb is already filled with fuel. N Set the choke knob to suit the engine temperature. N Now start the engine. Extra weight An extra weight (special accessory) may be retrofitted on the MultiEngine to increase the weight on the MultiTool. Use only original STIHL weights. The use of other weights parts may result in damage to the machine or personal injury.

Wheels For convenient transport, the MultiEngine can be retrofitted with a set of wheels (special accessory). Always use original STIHL wheels. Using other wheels can lead to damage to the machine and personal injuries. Installing wheels No additional weight is attached to the MultiEngine To simplify installation, turn the machine so that it rests on the handles.

This avoids unnecessary high loads during the break-in period.
English Engine Management Adjusting the Carburetor Spark Plug 0000-GXX-0544-A0 Exhaust emissions are controlled by the design of the engine and components (e.g. carburation, ignition, timing and valve or port timing). The carburetor has been set at the factory to provide an optimum fuel-air mixture under most operating conditions. N If the engine is down on power, difficult to start or runs poorly at idle speed, first check the spark plug.
English Checking the Spark Plug N Use resistor type spark plugs with a properly tightened adapter nut. 000BA039 KN Installing the spark plug N Clean dirty spark plug. N Check electrode gap (A) and readjust if necessary – see "Specifications". N Rectify the problems which have caused fouling of the spark plug. N Screw the spark plug into the cylinder. English Storing the Machine N Drain and clean the fuel tank in a well ventilated area. N Dispose of fuel properly in accordance with local environmental requirements. N Run the engine until the carburetor is dry – this helps prevent the carburetor diaphragms sticking together. N Thoroughly clean the machine – pay special attention to the cylinder fins and air filter. N Remove, clean and inspect the attachment.

Ne pas lancer le moteur en tenant la machine à bout de bras – pour la mise en route du moteur, procéder comme décrit dans la Notice d'emploi.
français Dès que le moteur est en marche, il dégage des gaz d'échappement toxiques. Ces gaz peuvent être inodores et invisibles, et renfermer des hydrocarbures imbrûlés et du benzène. Ne jamais travailler avec cette machine dans des locaux fermés ou mal aérés – pas non plus si le moteur est équipé d'un catalyseur.
français La machine doit faire l'objet d'une maintenance régulière. Effectuer exclusivement les opérations de maintenance et les réparations décrites dans la Notice d'emploi. français Réglage du guidon Carburant 1 0000-GXX-0549-A1 Ce moteur est homologué pour l'utilisation avec de l'essence sans plomb et un taux de mélange de 50:1. N Desserrer la poignée tournante (1). N Saisir le guidon à deux mains et le déplier jusqu'en butée, en position de travail. N Serrer la poignée tournante. Votre moteur doit être alimenté avec un mélange composé de supercarburant (premium gasoline) de haute qualité et d'huile de haute qualité pour moteur deux-temps refroidi par air.
français Exemples Essence Pour satisfaire aux exigences des normes EPA et CARB, il est recommandé d'utiliser de l'huile STIHL HP Ultra. litres 1 5 10 15 20 25 Ne pas utiliser d'huiles de mélange BIA ou TCW (pour moteurs deux-temps refroidis par eau) ! Pour composer le mélange des modèles à catalyseur, utiliser exclusivement de l'huile moteur hautes performances STIHL 50:1 ou une huile de qualité équivalente pour moteur deux-temps. Manipuler le carburant avec précaution.
français Ravitaillement en carburant En faisant le plein, ne pas renverser du carburant et ne pas remplir le réservoir jusqu'au bord. STIHL recommande d'utiliser le système de remplissage STIHL (accessoire optionnel). en position de marche normale, le contact d'allumage est remis automatiquement – le moteur est prêt à démarrer et peut être lancé.

Durant le rodage, les éléments mobiles doivent s'adapter les uns aux autres – les frictions à l'intérieur du bloc-moteur offrent une résistance assez élevée.
