RKUNITAPE
Rack Unit Labels - 2 Strips Included
*actual product may vary from photos
Introduction
RKUNITAPE is designed to add unit markings to any server rack that
doesn’t have the markings due to design or wear. You can use the
unit labels to manage the space in your server rack more eectively
and to make sure that your rack-mountable equipment is properly
aligned. The unit labels are each 49 rack units long, but you can cut
them to t properly in your server rack. The unit labels are easy to
apply and, if necessary, you can reuse them.
For more information about rack units, see the What is a U?” section.

that you line up the label with the corresponding rack units as you
apply the label.
1. Prepare the surface for application.
2. If necessary, use scissors to cut the unit label to t the server rack
that youre using.
Note: Make sure that you cut the unit label along the U markings on
the label.
3. Peel o a small section of the removable backing from the label.
4. Place the exposed adhesive surface on the server rack, making
sure to line up the U markings on the label with the server rack
units.
5. Apply rm and continuous pressure to the unit label and rack as
you peel o the removable backing.
Remove the unit label
1. To remove the unit label from the server rack, grab one end of the
label and carefully pull it o of the rack.
2. To clean the surface, use isopropyl alcohol or a similar substance
to remove any dirt or contaminants.
3. If necessary, reapply the unit label to another server rack.
What is a U?
Server racks are classied by U size and depth. U is the standard unit
of measurement used to designate the vertical usable space of a
server rack, or the height of racks and cabinets. 1U is equal to 1.74 in.
For example, if a rack is designated as 20U, it has 20 rack spaces for
equipment and has 35 in. (20 times 1.75) of vertical usable space.
RKUNITAPE includes two unit labels that are each 49 rack units long.
