Connecting the speakers To the main unit Red (Front right speaker (R)) Purple (Subwoofer) Connect the speaker illumination connector (attached with the speaker cord) to the main unit and surround amplifier so you can enjoy the lighting effect on your speakers. You can select the illumination pattern you want by pressing SPEAKER ILLUMINATION repeatedly (page 50).
Getting Started Connecting the TV Select one of the following connection methods according to the input jacks on your TV. You cannot enjoy the audio and video of the connected equipment on the TV through this system when the system is off or in standby mode. Step 3: Preparing for Network Connection Rear of the main unit Tip To connect the system to your network, perform [Easy Network Settings]. For details, see “Step 5: Performing the Easy Setup” (page 27). or Select the method based on your LAN (Local Area Network) environment. • If you use a wireless LAN The system has built-in Wi-Fi, and you can connect the system to the network by making the network settings. • If you use a wired LAN Use a LAN cable to connect to the LAN (100) terminal on the main unit.
Getting Started Before performing the network settings When your wireless LAN router (access point) is Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)compatible, you can easily set the network settings with the WPS button. If not, check the following information in advance, and record it in the space provided below. • The network name (SSID*) that identifies your network.** • If security is set on your wireless network, the security key (WEP key, WPA key).

LINK/STANDBY indicator When wireless transmission is activated, the LINK/STANDBY indicator turns green. If the LINK/STANDBY indicator does not turn on, see “Wireless sound” (page 70). About the LINK/STANDBY indicator The LINK/STANDBY indicator shows wireless transmission status as follows. Turns green The system is turned on, wireless transmission is activated and surround signals are being received.

The front of each speaker should face the calibration mic, and there should be no obstruction between the speakers and the calibration mic. Press [/1 to turn on the system.

To select the football mode • [Football : Narration On]: You can enjoy an immersive feeling of being in a football stadium through enhanced stadium cheers. • [Football : Narration Off]: You can enjoy a more immersive feeling of being in a football stadium by minimizing the volume level of narration in addition to the enhancement of cheers. • [Football Off]: The football mode is turned off. Playback Playing a Disc For playable discs, see “Playable Discs” (page 73).
2 3 Prepare for BD-LIVE (BD-LIVE only). • Connect the system to a network (page 25). • Set [BD Internet Connection] to [Allow] (page 59). Insert a BD-ROM with BONUSVIEW/BD-LIVE. The operation method differs depending on the disc. Refer to the operating instructions of the disc. Displaying the playback information You can check the playback information, etc., by pressing DISPLAY. The displayed information differs depending on the disc type and system status.
Playing from a USB Device 1 2 3 4 Connect the USB device to the (USB) port. Refer to the operating instructions of the USB device before connecting. Press HOME. The home menu appears on the TV screen. Press B/b to select [Video], [Music], or [Photo]. Press V/v to select device], then press [USB . Playback You can play video/music/photo files on a connected USB device. For playable types of files, see “Playable Types of Files” (page 74).
Note Pairing this system with a BLUETOOTH device Pairing is an operation where BLUETOOTH devices register with each other beforehand. Once a pairing operation is performed, it does not need to be performed again. 1 2 3 4 Place the BLUETOOTH device within 1 meter from the main unit. Press BLUETOOTH. You can also select [Bluetooth AUDIO] from [Input] in home menu. Set the BLUETOOTH device in pairing mode.
6 Note • Once the main unit and the BLUETOOTH device are connected, you can control playback by pressing N, X, x, m/M and ./>. • You can connect to the system from a paired BLUETOOTH device in functions other than “BT”, if you set [Bluetooth Power Setting] in [External Input Settings] to [On] (page 62). Tip Using Screen mirroring “Screen mirroring” is a function to display the screen of a mobile device on the TV by Miracast technology.
Connecting to a Remote Device by One-touch Function (NFC) What is “NFC”? NFC (Near Field Communication) is a technology enabling short-range wireless communication between various devices, such as mobile phones and IC tags. Thanks to the NFC function, data communication can be achieved easily just by holding the device near the (N-Mark) on the NFC-compatible devices. Note • The system only can recognizes and connects to one NFC-compatible device at a time.
2 Tip If the volume level is low, adjust the volume of the remote device first. If the volume level is still too low, adjust the volume level on the main unit. Start the “NFC Easy Connect” application on the remote device. Make sure that the application screen is displayed. Hold the remote device near to the N-Mark on the main unit (page 36) until the remote device vibrates. Vibration cue is provided when the remote device is recognized by the main unit.
1 2 3 Press MIRRORING. Hold the Xperia smartphone near to the N-Mark on the main unit (page 36) until the Xperia smartphone vibrates. Vibration cue is provided when the Xperia smartphone is recognized by the main unit. The main unit establishes a connection with Xperia smartphone. Once connection is established, the Xperia smartphone screen appears on the TV screen. The Xperia smartphone is registered to the system. To exit mirroring Press HOME, RETURN or FUNCTION.
• Some Internet content may not be available in some countries/regions. 1 Press SEN. Press B/V/v/b to select the Internet content and a variety of on-demand entertainment, then press . Video streaming control panel The control panel appears when a video file starts playing. The displayed items may differ depending on the Internet content provider. To display again, press DISPLAY. To play remote files by operating the system (Renderer) via a DLNA controller You can operate the system with a DLNA-certified controller (a mobile phone, etc), when playing files stored on a DLNA server. Note Do not operate the system with the supplied remote control and a DLNA controller at the same time.

[IP Content NR Pro] Adjusts the video quality for Internet content. [Number Entry] Inputs numbers. Use B/V/v/b to select the number. [Music] only [Track Search] Searches the track number during music CD playback. [Add Slideshow BGM] Registers music files in the USB memory as slideshow background music (BGM). [Visualizer]/[Colour Pattern] Changes the visualizer color effect on the TV screen (page 50). [Photo] only [Slideshow] Starts a slideshow. [Slideshow Speed] Changes the slideshow speed.
Note Sound Adjustment When the system is playing a BD/DVD VIDEO recorded in multiple audio formats (PCM, Dolby Digital, MPEG audio, or DTS) or multilingual tracks, you can change the audio format or language. With a CD, you can select the sound from the right or left channel and listen to the sound of the selected channel through both the right and left speakers. Press AUDIO repeatedly during playback to select the audio signal you want. The audio information appears on the TV screen.
Presetting radio stations Tuner Listening to the Radio You can preset up to 20 stations. Before tuning, make sure to turn down the volume to minimum. 1 1 2 Press FUNCTION repeatedly until “FM” appears in the top panel display. Select the radio station. Automatic tuning Hold down TUNING +/– until the auto scanning starts. [Auto Tuning] appears on the TV screen. Scanning stops when the system tunes in a station. To cancel automatic tuning, press any buttons.
Tip Each time you press DISPLAY, the display in the top panel display changes cyclically as follows: Frequency t Preset number t Decoding status* * Appears when [Sound Effect] is set to [Dolby Pro Logic], [DTS Neo:6 Cinema], or [DTS Neo:6 Music] (page 59). (Europe models only) The system offers RDS feature which enables you to view additional information from radio stations. Simply select a station from the FM band. The station name appears on the TV screen.
System Audio Control You can enjoy the sound from TV or other equipment by a simple operation. You can use the System Audio Control function as follows: • When the system is turned on, the sound of the TV or other equipment can be output from the speakers of the system. • When sound from the TV or other equipment is output via the speakers of the system, you can switch the sound to output from the TV speakers by pressing SPEAKERS TVyAUDIO.
5 Press V/v to select setting according to your speakers placement, then press . • [Standard]: The surround speakers are installed in the rear position. • [All Front]: All speakers are installed in the front position. 10 Press V/v to select [OK] or [Cancel], then press x The measurement is not OK. Follow the message, then select [OK] to retry. The confirmation display for [Auto Calibration] appears. 6 8 Press V/v to select [OK]. To cancel, select [Cancel]. Press . [Auto Calibration] starts.
6 7 8 9 Press B/b to select [OK] or [Cancel], then press . Press V/v to select the item, then press . Press V/v to adjust the parameter. Press B/b and to confirm the settings. Check the following settings. x [Centre Speaker] [On]: The center speaker is connected. [Off]: The center speaker is not connected. x [Distance] When you move the speakers, be sure to set the parameters of the distance from the listening position to the speakers. You can set the parameters from 0.0 to 7.0 meters.
7 Press RETURN. The system returns to the previous display. 8 Press V/v to select [Test Tone], then press . 9 Press V/v to select [Off], then press . Note Tip To adjust the volume of all the speakers at the same time, press 2 +/–. (Child Lock) You can deactivate the buttons on the main unit (except for "/1) for preventing misoperation, such as child mischief. Touch and hold x on the main unit for more than 5 seconds. “LOCKED” appears in the top panel display.
Enjoying the Visualization on the TV Screen You can enjoy the visualizer effect which simulates the beat of the played back sources to the colorful designs and graphics. You can stream the effects during music playback (only for “BD/DVD”, “USB”, “FM”, “TV”, “BT” and “AUDIO” functions) and built-in sound demonstration. Press VISUALIZER repeatedly. (BDV-N9200W/BDV-N7200W/ BDV-N5200W only) Press COLOUR PATTERN repeatedly.
“REAR IMMERSIVE OFF” [Immersive Colour (Rear Off)] The illumination of the surround speakers are turned off. The illumination pattern of the front speakers is same as [Immersive Colour] setting. “REAR AMBIENT OFF” [Ambient Colour (Rear Off)] The illumination of the surround speakers are turned off. The illumination pattern of the front speakers is same as [Ambient Colour] setting.
Internet Browser display You can check website information by pressing DISPLAY. The display information differs depending on the website and page status. Available options Various settings and operations are available by pressing OPTIONS. The available items differ depending on the situation. [Browser Setup] Displays the Internet Browser settings. • [Zoom]: Increases or decreases the size of the displayed contents. • [JavaScript Setup]: Sets whether to enable or disable JavaScript.
[Break] Moves the cursor to the next line in the text input field. [Delete] Erases one character on the left side of the cursor during text input. 1 2 3 Further Settings for the Wireless System 1 2 3 4 Press HOME. The home menu appears on the TV screen. Selecting the frequency bandwidth [RF Band] (Europe, Oceania, Africa, India, Middle East, Thailand, and Russia models only) You can select the frequency bandwidth which [RF Channel] belongs to. Note This function may not be available in some countries/regions. 1 2 3 Select [Wireless Sound Connection] in [System Settings] (page 53). Press V/v to select [RF Band], then press . Settings and Adjustments Using the Setup Display [External Input Settings] (page 62) Sets the input skip setting for each external input. x [Update via Internet] Updates the system’s software using available network. Make sure network is connected to the Internet. For details, see “Step 3: Preparing for Network Connection” (page 25). x [Update via USB Memory] Updates software using USB memory. Make sure that the Software Update Folder is correctly named as “UPDATE”. x [Screen Format] [Full]: Select this when connecting to a TV with a wide-mode function. Displays a 4:3 screen picture in 16:9 aspect ratio even on a wide-screen TV.
x [Output Video Resolution] [Auto]: Outputs video signal according to the resolution of the TV or connected equipment. [Original Resolution]: Outputs video signal according to the resolution recorded on the disc. (When the resolution is lower than SD resolution, it is scaled up to SD resolution.) [480i/576i]*, [480p/576p]*, [720p], [1080i], [1080p]: Outputs video signal according to the selected resolution setting.
x [SBM] (Super Bit Mapping) [On]: Smooths the gradation of video signals output from the HDMI (OUT) jack. [Off]: Select this when outputting distorted video signals or unnatural color. x [IP Content NR Pro] [Video3]/[Video2]/[Video1]/ [Film1]/[Film2]/[Film3]: Adjusts the video quality for Internet content. This setting is same as the setting in option menu when using the Internet service. [Off]: Off. x [Pause Mode] [Auto]: Normally select this.
x [Sound Effect] You can turn on or off the system’s sound effects (SOUND FIELD setting (page 29)). For a 2-channel source, you can select [Dolby Pro Logic], [DTS Neo:6 Cinema], or [DTS Neo:6 Music] to simulate surround sound. x [Speaker Settings] To obtain optimum surround sound, set the speakers. For details, see “Setting the Speakers” (page 47). x [Auto Calibration] (BDV-N9200W/BDV-N9200WL/ BDV-N7200W/BDV-N7200WL only) You can calibrate the appropriate settings automatically.
[Parental Control Settings] x [Password] Set or change the password for the Parental Control function. A password allows you to set a restriction on BD-ROM, DVD VIDEO, or Internet video playback. If necessary, you can differentiate the restriction levels for BD-ROMs and DVD VIDEOs. x [Parental Control Area Code] Playback of some BD-ROMs or DVD VIDEOs can be limited according to the geographic area. Scenes may be blocked or replaced with different scenes.
[Audio Return Channel] This function is available when you connect the system to a TV’s HDMI IN jack that is compatible with the Audio Return Channel function and [Control for HDMI] is set to [On]. [Auto]: The system can receive the digital audio signal of the TV automatically via an HDMI cable. [Off]: Off. x [NFC] [On]: Turns on NFC function to enjoy the One-touch listening and mirroring function on this system (page 36). [Off]: Off.
x [Device Name] You can change the name of this system according to your preference so that it is more recognizable during “BT” or “SCR M” function. The name is also used in other network usage such as DLNA, TV SideView. Follow on-screen instructions and use software keyboard to enter the name. x [System Information] You can display the system’s software version information and the MAC address. x [Software License Information] You can display the Software License Information.
x [Network Connection Status] Displays the current network connection status. [Resetting] x [Network Connection Diagnostics] You can run the network diagnostic to check if the network connection has been made properly. x [Reset to Factory Default Settings] You can reset the system settings to the factory default by selecting the group of settings. All the settings within the group will be reset. x [Connection Server Settings] Sets whether or not to display the connected DLNA server.
Additional Information Precautions On safety • Should any solid object or liquid fall into the cabinet, unplug the system and have it checked by qualified personnel before operating it any further. • Do not touch the AC power cord (mains lead) with wet hands. Troubleshooting If you experience any of the following difficulties while using the system, use this troubleshooting guide to help remedy the problem before requesting repairs. General The remote control does not function. t The distance between the remote control and the main unit is too far.

Sound There is no sound. t The speaker cords are not connected securely. t Check the speaker settings (page 47). The Super Audio CD sound of an equipment that is connected to the HDMI (IN 1) or HDMI (IN 2) jack is not output. t HDMI (IN 1) and HDMI (IN 2) does not accept an audio format that contains copy protection. Connect the analog audio output of the equipment to the AUDIO IN (L/R) jacks of the main unit. The sound outputs from the center speaker only.
Wireless sound Wireless transmission is not activated or there is no sound from the surround speakers. t Check the status of the LINK/ STANDBY indicator on the surround amplifier. • Turns off. – Check that the AC power cord (mains lead) of the surround amplifier is connected securely. – Turn the surround amplifier on by pressing "/1 on the surround amplifier. • Flashes red. – Press "/1 to turn off the surround amplifier, and check the following items.

Press OPTIONS and select [Play from start], then press . Wireless LAN connection You cannot connect your PC to the Internet after [Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS)] is performed.
Connecting cannot be done. t The pairing registration information has been erased. Perform the pairing operation again (page 34). The sound skips or fluctuates, or the connection is lost. t The main unit and the BLUETOOTH device are too far apart. t If there are obstacles between the main unit and your BLUETOOTH device, remove or avoid the obstacles. t If there is equipment that generates electromagnetic radiation, such as a wireless LAN, other BLUETOOTH device, or a microwave oven nearby, move them away.
Notes on discs This product is designed to play back discs that conform to the Compact Disc (CD) standard. DualDiscs and some music discs encoded with copyright protection technologies do not conform to the Compact Disc (CD) standard. Therefore, these discs may not be compatible with this product.
