Fire Safety Cutoff Switch Installation
INSTALLATION STEPS:
1. Turn the Solar Attic Fan unit upside down. Locate the
wire lead coming from the motor (see Figure 1).
2.Insert the male plug from the Fire Safety Cutoff Switch
into the female plug on the Solar Attic Fan unit. Then
insert the male plug from the Solar Attic Fan unit to the
female plug on the Fire Safety Cutoff Switch (see Figure 2).
NOTE: If you are also installing a thermal switch, proceed
to step 4 below.
3. At the other end of the Fire Safety Cutoff Switch,
connect the male and female plugs together. When
Solar Attic Fan is installed, the Fire Safety Cutoff Switch
should hang down.
Installation with Thermal Switch:
Install the Fire Safety Cutoff Switch using the steps 1-2
above.
4. Insert the male plug from the Thermal Switch into
the female plug on the Fire Safety Cutoff Switch. Then
insert the male plug from the Fire Safety Cutoff Switch
to the female plug on the Thermal Switch (see Figure 3).
The Fire Safety Cutoff Switch is
designed to help stop the spread of
house attic fires during daytime fan operation
by shutting down the Natural Light Solar Attic
Fan. The switch includes a fusible link that will
melt at 228˚ F and limit the introduction of fresh
air that would otherwise feed the fire.
