HM30 User Manual V1.2 Before configuring any settings on the ground unit, make sure your aircraft’s/vehicle’s/model’s engines are powered off and their motor wires are disconnected, in case of a sudden switch-on. When you start your aircraft/vehicle for the first time, make sure that the fail-safe settings on your ground unit is activated. Always switch on the ground unit first and hold the throttle joystick on your remote controller at zero output position, then power on your aircraft/vehicle/model.

When HM30 ground unit is off power, press the power button once, the OLED screen will display “press again”. When the datalink output mode is UART, the port will have both uploading and downloading data. For more detail about datalink output, please refer to the Chapter 4 “Datalink” in this user manual. 3.1.5 Datalink Baud Rate HM30 supports different baud rates for datalink communication.

HM30 ground unit supports communication with different ground control software through various hardware interface. 4.1 Communication with GCS via Bluetooth Let’s take QGroundControl as an example. 1. On HM30 ground unit, go to “Settings” and set “Bluetooth” for “Datalink Mode”, and configure the correct baud rate. 2.
HM30 User Manual V1.2 5. Select the Bluetooth device starting with the ID “SIYI-6A********”, then “OK” to go back to the “Comm Links” page. 6. Select “Bluetooth” and touch “Connect”, Bluetooth connection is established. Mark If it is your first time to add a new connection in QGC “Comm Links”, please do not check the option “Automatically Connect on Start”. It can be checked later when you confirm that the datalink is connected successfully.

On HM30 ground unit, go to “Settings” and set “UDP” for “Datalink Mode”, and configure the correct baud rate. 2. UDP connection uses fixed IP for network communication, please set the IP address for your connected mobile device or Windows device as “192.168.144.20”. Like in the picture below. 3. Open QGC, go to “Application Settings - Comm Links” and “Add” a new connection. 4.

Mark If it is your first time to add a new connection in QGC, please do not check the option “Automatically Connect on Start”. It can be checked later when you confirm that the datalink is established successfully. 4.

Changing the baud rate will change the UART port’s baud rate as well. 2. Please refer to the pin map of HM30 ground unit. Wire the “TX” pin from the UART port to the “RX” pin from the antenna tracker and wire the “RX” pin from the UART port to the “TX” pin from the antenna tracker. “GND” pin to “GND” pin. 3. The UART datalink connection is established.

Mark If the HM30 ground unit cannot be recognized as a COM device by your Windows device, please open “Computer – Manage – Device Manager” and check if there were any abnormal drivers. If so, please download and install the relevant drivers to solve the issue. 4.

On HM30 ground unit, go to “Datalink and Remote-Control Link Status” page to check the information to confirm if the flight controller are in good communication with the HM30 air unit. When the communication is good, “Data Download” is not 0. If it is “0”, please go back to check step 1 and 2 again. 4. It connects to most IP cameras and pods on market and can connect to HDMI cameras / pods through an HDMI input converter. Then following steps will help you acquire image transmission display.
HM30 User Manual V1.2 6.1 Using SIYI IP Cameras Open SIYI FPV app, with the well-connected HM30 system you can check video display on your mobile device without any additional settings after powering on the system. 6.2 Using Third-Party IP Cameras / Pods Before connecting a third-party camera or pod to the HM30 air unit, please change its IP address to “192.168.144.X”. Mark The “X” should not be “11”, “12”, or “20”, otherwise it won’t work.

Go back to QGC home page to check video display. 6.3 Using HDMI Cameras / Pods If you are using the SIYI original Air Unit HDMI Input Module to connect the HM30 air unit to your HDMI camera / pod, please refer to the steps below for acquiring video input. Mark Dual video streams are recommended to multi-rotors commercial drone customers only. When using dual video streams, please output video stream only from the Ethernet port (LAN) on HM30 ground unit. Through Type-C it only output one video stream.
