The installation in this manual is intended for qualied installers, service technicians or persons with a similar qualied

background. Installation and electrical wiring must be done by qualied professionals and in accordance with all

applicable codes and standards, including re-rated construction.

Do not attempt to install this appliance yourself. Injury could result from installing the unit due to lack of appropriate

electrical and technical background.

Range hood may have very sharp edges; please wear protective gloves if it is necessary to remove any parts for

installing, cleaning or servicing.

Activating any switch ON before completing installation may cause ignition or an explosion.

Due to the size and weight of this range hood, two people installation is recommended.

The combustion air ow needed for safe operation of fuel-burning equipment may be affected by this unit’s operation.

Follow the heating equipment manufacturer’s guideline and safety standards such as those published by the National

Fire Protection Association (NFPA), and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers

(ASHRAE), and the local code authorities.

Before servicing or cleaning unit, switch power OFF at service panel and lock service panel to prevent power from being

switched ON accidentally.

Clean grease laden surfaces frequently. To reduce the risk of re and to disperse air properly, make sure to vent air out-

side. Do not vent exhaust into spaces between walls, crawl spaces, ceiling, attics or garages.

Ducted fans must always be vented to the outdoors.

This unit must be grounded and only metal ductwork should be used.

Sufcient air is needed for proper combustion and exhausting of gases through the duct to prevent back drafting.

When cutting or drilling into wall or ceiling, be careful not to damage electrical wiring or other hidden utilities.

All electrical wiring must be properly installed, insulated and grounded.

Old duct work should be cleaned or replaced if necessary to avoid the possibility of a grease re.

Check all joints on duct work to ensure proper connection. All joints should be properly taped.

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF A STOVE TOP GREASE FIRE Keep all fan, baffle, spaces, filter, grease tunnel, oil container and grease-laden surfaces clean. Grease should not be allowed to accumulate on fan, baffle, spaces, filter, grease tunnel and oil container. Always turn range hood ON when cooking at high heat or when cooking flaming foods. Use high settings on cooking range only when necessary.

HEIGHT AND CLEARANCE IMPORTANT A minimum of 6" round (standard for this range hood) or 3-1/4" x 10" rectangular duct (purchased separately) must be used to maintain maximum airflow efficiency. Flexible 6" round duct provided for convenience, always use rigid type metal/aluminum ducts if available to maximize airflow when connecting to provided duct. Please use Duct Run Calculation below to compute the total available duct run when using elbows, transitions and caps.

CALCULATING VENT SYSTEM LENGTH To calculate the length of the system you need, deduct the equivalent feet for each vent piece used in the system from the recommended maximum duct run. VENTING METHODS This range hood is factory set for venting through the roof or wall. For non-vented (re-circulating) installations, see “Recirculating (Non-Vented) Kit”. Vent work can terminate either through the roof or wall. To vent through a wall, a 90° elbow is needed.

DUCTLESS CONVERSION Ductless conversion is intended for applications where exhaust duct work cannot be installed. When converted, the hood functions as a purifying hood rather than an exhaust hood. Fumes and exhaust from cooking are drawn and filtered by a set of charcoal filters. The air is then purified and re-circulated back within the home. We recommend to always exhaust air outside of the home by employing existing or installing new duct work if possible.

Do not have a fuse in the neutral or ground circuit. Important: Save this Installation Guide for electrical inspector’s use. The range hood must be connected with copper wire/plug only. The range hood should be connected directly to the fused disconnect (or circuit breaker) box through flexible armored or non-metallic sheathed copper cable. A U.L. or C.S.A. listed strain relief must be provided at each end of the power supply cable. Do not use an extension cord or adapter plug with this appliance.

2. Due to the weight and size of this unit, please make sure that the support system or framework being used is stable and secure in the wall. 3. Put a thick, protective covering over counter top, cook top or range to protect from damage or dirt. Remove any hazardous objects around the area when installing. 4. Mark the locations of the support mounting bracket holes, vent cutout (if used) and power supply cable cutout on the ceiling.

Caution: Make sure the support frame fixture is secure before releasing. 4. As shown in Figure 4A, 4B and 4C, slide in both upper chimney and lower chimney, pay extra attention to sharp edges on the chimneys and minimize chimney movements to avoid scratches on the chimneys. You may use a screwdriver to prevent them from sliding down as illustrated in Figure 4C. Make sure the screwdriver can withstand the weight. 5. Recirculating (Non-Vented) Kit: If Re-Circulating Kit is not purchased, skip this step.

8. Recirculating (Non-Vented) Kit: If Re-Circulating Kit is not purchased, skip this step. Install the duct tube onto the air diverter and use duct tape to ensure a secure and air tight connection. See Figure 6C. 9. Hold upper chimney and lower chimney into position and remove the screwdriver that is holding them up. Slowly slide down both chimneys until they sit on the hood. Connect the duct work and power cable, see figure 7A.

RANGE HOOD OPERATIONS AND WIRING DIAGRAM Turn On: Press the speed control (Low Speed, Medium Speed, High Speed) switch to select the desired level of power. Once button is pressed, the previous speed mode will cancel. Press the Light Switch to power on the lights. Do not touch the lights until switched OFF and cooled. Turn Off: Press the Power Switch to turn off the power. Press the Light Switch to power off the lights.

RANGE HOOD OPERATIONS AND WIRING DIAGRAM (CONTINUED) This range hood is equipped with a credit card size remote control (approximately 20ft range), three built-in electronic controls, a powerful centrifugal squirrel cage motor, grease filters and two bright 12V 20W halogen lights. The three built-in electronic buttons control the power of the Lights, Power-Off Delay and Fan Speeds: Quiet (F1), Low (F2), Medium (F3) and High (F4). The Power-Off Delay offers up to 99 minutes delay shutoff.

RANGE HOOD OPERATIONS AND WIRING DIAGRAM (CONTINUED) Light Control using built-in electronic controls: Light Control button operates independently from the Power / Fan Speed but can be turned OFF by the Power-Off Delay function. Activating the delay function will turn halogen lights OFF. Do not touch the lights until switched OFF and cooled. While the halogen lights are OFF, press the Light Control button once to turn halogen lights ON.

pressing the “+” button and 1 minute decrements by pressing the “-” button, with the default set at 15 minutes, from as short as 1 minute to as long as 99 minutes. After the desired setting has been achieved, the Speed/Timer Indicator will return to fan speed mode and Power-Off Delay Control button will flash until power OFFafter a few seconds. Changing speed does not affect the delay shutoff function.

RANGE HOOD OPERATIONS AND WIRING DIAGRAM (CONTINUED) The range hood is designed to remove smoke, cooking vapors and odors from the cook top area. For best results, start the range hood before cooking and allow it to operate several minutes after the cooking incomplete to clear all smoke and odors from the kitchen. Button functions: Power: Power ON/OFF and activate power-off delay timer. Decrease Value: Blower (motor) speed decrease, timer value decrease, and enter timer mode.

Adjusting the timer function: While the blower (motor) is not running, press and hold Decrease Value button over 3 seconds to enter timer mode. Adjust to desired period of delay off timer by pressing Increase Value or Decrease Value button (minimum 1 minute to maximum 9 minutes). This setting will be saved immediately. Activating the timer function: While the blower (motor) is running, press and hold Power button for over 3 seconds to activate delay off timer.

If the range hood or halogen light does not operate after installation: Verify that the range hood has been plugged in, make sure that all power has been turned back ON, the fuse has not blown and all electrical wiring is properly conected. Swap out light assembly with working assembly to determine if it is caused by defective bulbs. See “Replacing the light bulbs”. 2.

4. The lights work but the blower is not spinning at all, it is stuck or it is rattling: The blower might be jammed or scraping the bottom due to shipping damages. Please contact Customer Service immediately. 5. The hood is not venting out properly: Make sure the distance between the stove top and the bottom of the hood is within 28”-31” in distance. Reduce the number of elbows and length of duct work. Check if all joints are properly connected, sealed, and taped.

MAINTENANCE Safety Warning: Never put your hand into area housing the fan while the fan is operating. For optimal operation, clean range hood and all baffle/spacer/filter/grease tunnel/oil container regularly. Regular care will help preserve the appearance of the range hood. Cleaning Exterior surfaces: Clean periodically with hot soapy water and clean cotton cloth. Do not use corrosive or abrasive detergents, or steel wool/scoring pads, which will scratch and damage the stainless steel surface.

exposure and wipe dry with a clean cloth. Cleaning Aluminum Grease Filter/Stainless Steel Filterless Grill: Drain oil from oil containers before oil and residue overflow. The metal filters fitted by the factory are intended to filter out residue and grease from cooking. Filters may not need to be replaced on a regular basis but are required to be kept clean. Filters should be cleaned after every 30 hours of use. Remove and clean by hand or dishwasher.

WARRANTY To obtain service under warranty you must present proof of the original purchase date. Please provide an original dated proof of purchase (sales receipt/invoice) in order to obtain service under warranty. 5 Year Parts Warranty: For five years from the date of original purchase, your local reseller will provide free of charge, non-consumable replacement parts or components that failed due to manufacturing defects.
