PRECAUTIONS installation 1. install the machine on a level surface. 2. Keep the machine away from air conditioners, heaters, direct sunlight, humidity, and dust. 3. Provide easy access to the front, back, and sides of the machine. 4. Avoid locations where the transceiver may be splashed by wale, or chemicals. 5. A telephone must be located near the machine. 8. COPY/CUT MANUAL RECEPTION MAJOR COMPONENTS Pressing this key with a document in the document feeder produces a copy of the document. When replacing the recording paper, this key can be pressed to feed out and cut approximately 10cm of paper to cutting the paper edge straight. Pressing this ey causes the ALTO RECEIVE lamp to switch off and the machine to enter the manual receive mode. The auto receive mode is switched to the manual receive mode or vice versa by pressing this key.
FACSIMILE NETWORK Compatibility The FEW-2715 facsimile machine is compatible with the following facsimile communication modes. CIT Group 3 FEW-2715 L gory Group 2 COMMUNICATION WITH CIT G2/G3 FACSIMILE UNITS The FEW-2715 facsimile making has the capability of automatically communicating with a CIT Group 2 3 {sub-1-minute) facsimile uni. OPERATING PROCEDURE 23 Last Number Recall Your facsimile unit remembers the last telephone number dialed. So, continuous facsimile transmission to the same location can be executed without inputting the same telephone number. 24 OPERATING PROCEDURE ENTERING FACSIMILE TELEPHONE NUMBER Rapid Dialing, Speed Dialing, and Transmission to a Secondary Facsimile Unit The remote facsimile telephone number(s) can be entered the same way for both rapid dialing and speed dialing. Rapid dialing is available for locations those entered using the speed dialing numbers (up to 42).

OPERATING PROCEDURE 33 Voice Communication The talk mode can be initiated from either the transmitting or receiving side, so that it may be used to identify or make verbal contact with the other end. This function is available in G3 mode only. VOICE COMMUNICATION DURING AND AFTER OPERATION 1. 34 OPERATING PROCEDURE Reception AUTOMATIC RECEIVE MODE In this mode your facsimile unit operates without operator intervention. 1. Check that the AUTO RECEIVE lamp is illuminated When this lamp is dark, the machine is set in the manual receive mode. 38 OPERATING PROCEDURE Polling CONDITIONS FOR POLLING The paling function makes it possible for one facsimile unit to activate a remote facsimile unit so that documents can be sent from the remote unit without an operator being on hand. This function is available only in G3 mode The FEW-2715 facsimile is provided with a security function using an ID number to prevent spelling from an unauthorized source.

38 OPERATING PROCEDURE Tl (Terminal ID) Function The TI function is intended to confirm the remote terminal in facsimile transmission: and it does not work if the remote terminal is not equipped with this function. Tl number The telephone number of your machine is registered as its TI number. This registration is done by your dealer when your machine is installed. When changing the telephone number of your machine, consult your dealer.

41 OTHER FEATURES Copy Function You can copy a document on the FEW-2715 the same way that you would transmit it. This feature allows you to confirm how, the copy would lock at a receiving machine, and in particular is used for graphics and documents containing fine print. 51 | ' MAINTENANCE BY OPERATOR Replacing the Recording Paper, Cautions REPLACING THE RECORDING PAPER Always check the amount of remaining recording paper through the recording paper window. When *NO PAPER" is displayed on the LCD, no more reception is permitted. Immediately replace the paper roll with a new one. 1. Message “NO PAPER" appears on the LCD. ND RAPER 2. Turn off the POWER switch. 3. Push the paper compartment cover knee to the rear and open the paper compartment cover. 4.
52 w MAINTENANCE 3Y OPERATOR Fit the new paper roil in the pager gelding hub. First fit the paper roll to the left hub and then fit the chert end to the right hub while pushing the roll o the left. . Align the paper with the marks on the cutter guide and thread # through the space In the cutter guide. Gently pull the paper out through the paper exit. Close the paper compartment cover A clicking sound &t the center of the document feeder indicates that the cover 's properly closed. .

MAINTENANCE BY OPERATOR 55 Cleaning CLEANING THE RECORDING HEAD A clean recording head will improve the printing performance of your facsimile unit. Sometimes paper dust on the recording head may case somewhat unclear reproduction. To avoid this, clean the recording head once every three or four rolls by following this procedure. 1. Open the paper compartment cover (refer to page 51). 2. Wipe clean the recording head with a soft cloth dampened with ethyl alcohol. Never “use benzene or thinner.
When the machine fails to work properly, check the possible cause by following these directions.
