GENERAL OPERATION Turning the power on and off WHAT TO DO IF ... If the operation of the unit or display is not normal, or you wish to clear the contents of the memory, disconnect the power cord from the AC outlet and remove all batteries, then press [RESET] (rear of the unit) for at least 20 seconds. 1. NOTES: • If the disc is loaded with the label facing downward, or if a badly scratched disc is loaded, or if no disc is loaded, “Cd” appears. • • If this occurs, load the disc correctly with the label facing upward, or replace the damaged disc. Opening the CD compartment lid while a CD is playing could scratch the disc. Always press [STOP/CLEAR] and wait for the disc to stop rotating before opening the CD compartment lid. Compact discs • Both 3-inch and 5-inch discs can be played in this unit.
PAUSE MODE 1. Press [PLAY/PAUSE] during play. Play will temporarily stop. “a” blinks. 2. Press [PLAY/PAUSE] again to resume play. Search (forward/reverse) 1. If [SKIP/SEARCH] h or g is pressed during play, the player search at high speed in the forward or reverse direction while the button is being pressed. When the button is released, normal play will continue. Press and hold down during playback.
PROGRAMMED PLAY With programmed play, up to 20 tracks on a disc can be memorized and played in any order. TO PROGRAM 3 5 1 2,4 6 1 Press [STOP/CLEAR]. n 2 Press [MEMORY]. REPEAT PLAY REPEAT Press [REPEAT/FM MODE] before or during play. The player will play all the tracks or all the programmed tracks repeatedly. “REP” appears. MEMORY REPEAT /FM MODE • “REP” appears. TO CANCEL REPEAT PLAY To cancel repeat play, press [REPEAT/FM MODE] again. “REP” disappears.

BAND 3 Tune in a station.

Automatic Level Control (ALC) recording The ALC circuit adjusts the recording input level automatically. No adjustments are required. RECORDING A) RECORDING FROM THE BUILT-IN RADIO 2 BEAT CANCEL switch When recording a radio program, an irritating “whistling” sound may sometimes be heard. If this occurs, select position 1, 2 or 3. MAINTENANCE Cleaning the unit Clean the outside of the unit with a clean soft cloth, moistened with lukewarm water. Do not use solvents such as benzene or thinner. These will permanently damage the units finish. Cleaning the CD player lens The lens should never be touched. If dust is on the lens, blow it off using a camera lens blower. (Please consult your dealer.
TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE If you have followed the instructions and are having difficulty operating the unit, locate the SYMPTOM in the left column below. Check the corresponding POSSIBLE CAUSE and CORRECTIVE ACTION columns to locate and remedy the problem. SYMPTOM POSSIBLE CAUSE CORRECTIVE ACTION No power plug connection at the AC outlet.
