Features S Pen The S Pen is designed for special functions with Samsung Galaxy devices. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to work as a remote. See S Pen on page 26. ij Mobile continuity Transition between your mobile devices and personal computers for messaging, phone calls, receiving notifications, screen mirroring, and sharing multimedia files. Getting started Assemble your device Your device uses a nano-SIM card. A SIM card may be preinstalled, or you may be able to use your previous SIM card. Contact your carrier for details. Install SIM/microSD card Place the SIM card and optional microSD card (sold separately) into the tray with the gold contacts facing down. Charge your device Before turning on your device, charge it fully. NOTE Use only charging devices and batteries (if applicable) that are approved by Samsung.
Getting started NOTE Your device is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance. To maintain the water-resistant and dust-resistant features of your device, make sure that the SIM card/Memory card tray openings are maintained free of dust and water, and the tray is securely inserted prior to any exposure to liquids. Getting started Easy mode The Easy mode layout has larger text and icons, making for a more straightforward visual experience. Switch between the default screen layout and a simpler layout. Getting started View the Notification panel You can access the Notification panel from any screen. 1. Drag the Status bar down to display the Notification panel. 2. Swipe down the list to see notification details. • To open an item, tap it. • To clear a single notification, drag the notification left or right. • To clear all notifications, tap Clear. • To customize notifications, tap Notification settings. 3. Drag upward from the bottom of the screen or tap Notification panel.
Getting started S Pen The S Pen provides a variety of helpful functions. Use your S Pen to launch apps, take notes, or draw a picture. S Pen button Remove the S Pen The S Pen stores in the bottom of your device for convenient access. It also charges the S Pen so that it can be used for remote functions. ◌ Push the S Pen inward to release it, and then slide it out.
Getting started Remote functions The S Pen can be used to perform several remote functions. The S Pen remote feature is only supported by Samsung-approved S Pens with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). If the S Pen is too far from the device, or if there is interference, the S Pen disconnects from the device. The S pen must be connected for remote functions to work.

Tap an option: • Create note: Launch a new note in the Samsung Notes app. • View all notes: Launch the Samsung Notes app and view a listing of the notes you have created. • Smart select: Draw around an area of the screen to collect it in the Gallery app.
Getting started Screen write: Capture screenshots and write or draw on them. • • Live messages: Create a short animated message by drawing or writing with the S Pen. • Translate: Hover the S Pen over a word to see it translated into another language and listen to its pronunciation. • PENUP: Use the S Pen to draw, color, edit, and share live drawings. • Add shortcuts: Add more apps or functions to the Air command menu.

Tap Close to close Translate. PENUP Use the S Pen to draw, color, edit, and share live drawings.
Getting started Screen off memo You can write memos without turning your device on. 1. Detach the S Pen while the screen is off, and write on the screen. 2. Tap an option to customize your memo: • • • Color: Change the pen color. Pen settings: Tap to use the pen tool. Double tap to adjust the line thickness. Eraser: Tap to use the eraser tool. Double tap to erase all. 3. Tap Save to save your memo to the Samsung Notes app. NOTE The screen off memo setting must be enabled.

Intelligent scan Use Intelligent scan to improve accuracy and security by combining iris and face recognition.
Getting started Face recognition You can enable Face Recognition to unlock your screen. To use your face to unlock your device, you must set a pattern, PIN, or password. • Face recognition is less secure than Pattern, PIN, or Password. Your device could be unlocked by someone or something that looks like your image. • Some conditions may affect face recognition, including wearing glasses, hats, beards, or heavy make-up.
Getting started Iris scanner Use iris recognition as an alternative to entering passwords in certain apps. You can also use your irises to verify your identity when logging in to your Samsung account. For support, visit samsung.com/us/irisscanner. NOTE The Iris scanner is not intended to be used as a medical device and the biometric data collected and stored locally by the mechanism is not intended to be used for any diagnostic, therapeutic, or preventative purposes.
Getting started Fingerprint scanner Use fingerprint recognition as an alternative to entering passwords in certain apps. You can also use your fingerprint to verify your identity when logging in to your Samsung account. To use your fingerprint to unlock your device, you must set a pattern, PIN, or password. 1. From Settings, tap Biometrics and security > Fingerprints. 2. Follow the prompts to register your fingerprint. Fingerprint management Add, delete, and rename fingerprints.

Apps Using apps The Apps list displays all preloaded and downloaded apps. Apps can be downloaded from Galaxy Store and the Google Play™ store. ◌ From a Home screen, swipe the screen upward to access the Apps list. Uninstall or disable apps Installed apps can be removed from your device. Some apps that are preloaded (available on your device by default) can only be disabled. Disabled apps are turned off and hidden from the Apps list. ◌ From Apps, touch and hold an app, and tap Uninstall/Disable.
