Introduction Thank you for purchasing the 70379 digital music player, voice recorder and USB memory device. This new generation digital portable device supports multiple music formats including MP3, WMA and WAV. Music Express software allows you to upload and download music to and from your digital music player, create audio and MP3 CDs, organize your songs in playlists, rip music from audio or MP3 CDs and much more. Please read this manual carefully before using your new player.
What your digital music player includes: • MP3 – USB disk – Voice Recorder • Earphone • Connection cable • CD ROM • User Manual Computer System Requirements MS Windows 98SE/2000/XP (The driver for Windows98 can be found in a separate folder on the installation disk – see Technical Specifications section of this manual). For MS Windows 2000 and XP no separate driver is required.

You will now be in the main menu.
The Modes Your digital music player has 4 modes: Play Music, Recording Mode, Replay mode, and System Settings. The main menu: To enter a mode: 1. Select a mode using the PREVIOUS/NEXT button. 2. Press the MENU button to confirm your selection.
Play Music Mode What is MP3? MP3 is an audio file format that compresses sound files to up to 1/10th of their original size without affecting sound quality. This sound compression means that an MP3 file takes up much less space on a computer hard disk than a file extracted from an audio CD (WAV file). The Play Music mode allows you to play the music stored on your player. 1. Press and hold the Play/Pause button until the player turns on. 2.
Playing music 1. 2. Connect the headphone to the headphone port Push the PLAY button to start playing In the Play Music mode: • Press PREVIOUS/NEXT to go forward or back a track • Press and hold PREVIOUS/NEXT to fast forward or rewind • Press PLAY/Pause button to pause playing • Press VOL and then PREVIOUS/NEXT to Decrease/Increase the volume While in this Play Music mode, various extra options can be selected: Repeat, Equalizer, Del. File, Delete All and Exit In order to access these options: 1.
2. 3. Press the MENU button briefly. Use the NEXT/Previous buttons to navigate the menu, and the MENU button to select the desired option. Repeat mode: • In play music mode, briefly press the MENU button to confirm the starting point A • Again press briefly on the MENU button to confirm the finishing point B. The player will replay the content from point A to point B. • Briefly press the MENU button and the player will be set to the normal playing status.
Equalizer This option allows you to select seven different tones: Natural, Pop, Rock, Classical, Jazz, DBB and Soft. 1. Use the NEXT button to select the Equalizer function. 2. Press the MENU button to access the different tones. 3. Set the desired tone using the NEXT/PREVIOUS buttons. 4. Confirm your selection by pressing the MENU button.
Recording Mode This mode allows you to make voice recordings and store them on your player. 1. Press and hold the Play/Pause button until the player turns on. 2. 3. 4. 5. From the Main Menu that appears, press the NEXT/PREVIOUS button to select the Recording (REC) mode. Briefly press the MENU button to enter the Recording mode. Briefly press the Play/Pause button to start recording. Press the Play button again to stop or pause the recording. Your player can hold up to 8.
a different one. Replay Mode This mode allows you to play back the files recorded in Recording Mode. 1. Press and hold the Play/Pause button until the player turns on. 2. From the Main Menu that appears, press the NEXT/PREVIOUS button to select the Replay (RPL) mode.
3. 4. 5. Briefly press the MENU button to enter the Replay mode. Choose the desired recording by pressing the NEXT/PREVIOUS buttons. Press the Play/Pause button to play the selected recording. The screen will display the following information: the number of recordings made, the duration of the selected track, and the recording time counted down while listening. System Settings This mode allows you to access the basic functions associated with the player’s setup. 1.

Confirm your selection by pressing the MENU button. • Repeat You can set your player to play songs normally, to repeat one song or to repeat all the songs in the file. 1.

Confirm your selection by pressing the MENU button. • Language This allows you to set the default language for your player: US English, Traditional Chinese, Simple Chinese, Japanese, Korean, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese. Use the NEXT button to select the Language function. 1. Press the MENU button to access the various languages. 2. Adjust languages using the NEXT/PREVIOUS buttons. 3.
• Contrast This setting allows you to adjust the display contrast: 5 is the default normal setting. 1 is the lightest and 10 is the darkest. 1. 2. 3. 4. Use the NEXT button to select the Contrast function. Press the MENU button to adjust the contrast settings. Adjust settings using the NEXT/PREVIOUS buttons. Confirm your selection by pressing the MENU button. • Memory Info This function calculates and shows the Total memory available and amount of memory remaining in size per MB.
Connecting the player to your computer Connect one end of the provided USB cable to your player and the other end of the cable to your computer. The following icon will appear on the screen of your player. Once you have connected your player to your computer, your player will appear as a removable disk. You will now be able to transfer songs or other files to you player’s memory. We recommend saving a copy of files that you transfer to avoid losing them in the event of a keying error.
Music Express Software installation 1. Insert the Software CD that came with your Digital Music Players into the CD-ROM drive. Make sure that your Digital Music Player is NOT connected to the computer. 2. On the “Music Express" screen, click the “Next” button.
3. Select your Digital Music Player model from the drop down list and click the “Next” button.
4. Please review the license terms and click the “Agree” button to continue.
5. Let the “Music Express” installer create the folder where the program will be installed to, and then click “Install”.
6. Click “Finish” to let the “Music Express” installer finish the installation program and launch the application. (To launch “Music Express” next time, double click on the program icon on your desktop.) 7. Congratulations!! You have successfully installed the “Music Express” software.
Digital Music Player Registration Make sure that your Digital Music Player is NOT connected to the computer. Note: The first time you open “Music Express” the wizard will open automatically requesting device installation. Press the “Register new device” button to open the installation wizard.
1. On the “Digital music player installation wizard" screen, click the “Next” button.
2. Select your Digital Music Player model from the drop down list and click the “Next” button.
3. Insert a name for the Digital Music Player device and click the “Next” button.
4. Plug your Digital Music Player to the USB port.
5. Once the computer recognizes that you plugged in your device, an “Install now” button will show, press it. 6. When the installation is done, a message will come up saying that the device has been successfully registered.
The next time you plug in your Digital Music Player device, it will automatically open “Music Express” and display its contents in “My Music Player” mode. (For more information please refer to the help file in the software) Device Auto-Detect The Device Auto-Detect detects your Digital Music Player as soon as you plug it into the USB port. The "Music Express" software opens in "My music player" mode, displaying the contents of your Digital Music Player and allowing for upload of new songs.
To disable the Auto-Detect on startup, right click on the Auto-Detect icon in the notification area and press "Preferences" or press the "Preferences" button in "Music Express" main window and uncheck the check box. To reset the Auto-Detect to launch at system start up do one of the following: • Right click on the Auto-Detect icon in the notification area, press "Preferences" and check the check box.
Press the "iConcepts Music Express" from the programs menu and choose "Launch Auto Detect". Using “Music Express” software Get Music Mode Click the “Get Music” button on the “Main Menu" window or in any other mode to rip an audio or MP3 CD, to find music on your computer or to copy music from any removable drive.
Rip an Audio (This feature requires Windows XP). Rip music from a music CD, copy it to your computer and add it to your music library. 1. Click the “Rip CD” button in the “Get music” mode. 2. Click the “Load CD” button to load the CD from the CD drive. Note: The default name of the CD can be changed. 3. Mark the songs you want to rip (to choose all of the songs on the CD press the “Select all” button) 4. Press the “Browse” button to choose the folder you want to copy the songs to. 5.
Find music on your computer Scan your computer for music files and add them to your music library. 1. Click the “Find music” button in the “Get music” mode. 2. Select a search type: a. Quick search- Search in “My music” folder. This is recommended. b. Full search- Search all hard drives on this computer. c. Custom search- Search a selected folder. 3. Add songs to a playlist: a. Create new playlist. b. Choose from an existing playlist. c. Don’t add songs to any playlist. 4. Click the “Begin search” button.
Copy music from removable drive Copy music files from any removable drive connected to your computer and add them to your music library. 1. Make sure the removable drive is connected to your computer. 2. Click the “Copy music from removable driver” button in the “Get music” mode. 3. Select the removable drive from the drives list. 4. Choose a playlist to add the songs to: a. Create a new playlist. b. Choose from an existing playlist. c. Don’t add songs to any playlist. 5. Click the “Begin Search” button. 6.
Playlist Click the “All Music” playlist in the “My Playlists” window to view all of the songs on your computer in the “view playlists” window on the right. Create a new Playlist 1. Click the Create button to create a new playlist 2. A dialogue box will appear; Insert a playlist name and press OK. 3. The new playlist will now be listed in the “My playlists” window.
Add music files to a Playlist 1. Select the music file/files you wish to add from the “All Music” playlist or another existing playlist. 2. Click on the “Add music to playlist” button and choose the playlist you want the song to be in or drag the selected music file/files onto the playlist in the “My playlists” window you want the song to be in. (In order to select more then one song press the CTRL button and select the songs you wish to add to the playlist.
Music Player Controls: 1. Play- Play a selected song. When the song is playing, the Play button becomes a Pause button. 2. Pause- Pause a selected song. To continue playing the song, click the Play button. 3. 4. Stop- Stop playing a song. Playback slider– Play a song from a specific point. The Playback slider indicates the playback progress of the selected item. You can move the slider and determine where to start playback. 5.
Change the order of songs in your playlist Change the order of the songs by using the arrows: 1. Move up- Move a selected song up in the playlist. 2. Move down- Move a selected song down in the playlist. Remove songs from playlist Remove a selected song or a group of songs from the playlist. 1. Choose the song you wish to remove from the playlist. (In order to select more then one song, press the CTRL button and select the songs you wish to remove.) 2. Press the “Remove” button.
2. Add any information you wish to add or modify and press the OK button. Rename an existing playlist 1. Choose the playlist you wish to rename. 2. Click the “Rename” button. 3. A dialogue box will appear; Insert the new name you wish to give the playlist and press OK. Remove a playlist 1. Choose the playlist you wish to remove. “Remove” button. 2. Click the 3. Create MP3 CDs (This feature requires Windows XP). Burn an MP3 music CD from a playlist you created in “My Music” mode. 1. Choose the “Create MP3 CD” button in the main menu or in any mode on the bottom left. 2. Choose a playlist from the playlists list and press the “Next” button. 3. Mark the songs you want to burn from the playlist. 4. Make sure you have a blank CD in the drive before pressing the “Begin burn” button. 5.

My Music Player Mode The "My Music Player" mode lets you view, listen, upload, download and remove music files and playlists from and to your Digital Music Player.
Add music files to your Digital Music Player portable device In order to choose music to upload onto your Digital Music Player you need to drag the music from the “My playlists” window onto the “View playlist” window.
Save songs as Playlist After you transferred the selected songs to the Digital Music Player you can save the songs as a new playlist. 1. Press the 2. Insert a new playlist name. 3. The new playlist will appear in the “My playlists” window. “Save as playlist” button.

Troubleshooting No Power No sound is heard from headphone. Check the battery power or whether the battery has been inserted properly. Check whether Volume is set “0” and connect the headphone plugs firmly. Check whether the headphone plug is dirty. Corrupted MP3 may make a static noise and the sound may cut off. Make sure that the music files are not corrupted. Characters in LCD are corrupted Check whether the correct language has been selected. Download of music files fails.
