FEATURES KNOW YOUR ADHESIVE/CAULK GUN PLUNGER ROD HANDLE See Figure 1. Before attempting to use this product, familiarize yourself with all operating features and safety rules. The plunger rod handle is used to pull the plunger rod back, allowing caulk to be loaded. PUNCTURE TOOL AUTO SHUT-OFF For your convenience, a puncture tool is provided for breaking the seal on a new tube of caulk.
OPERATION WARNING: Do not allow familiarity with tools to make you careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is sufficient to inflict severe injury. WARNING: Always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields when operating tools. Failure to do so could result in objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in possible serious injury. OPERATION INSTALLING BATTERY PACK See Figure 4. n While holding the caulk gun pointed away from you, lock the switch trigger by sliding the switch lock to the left. Place the battery pack on the tool. Make sure the latches on each side of the battery pack snap into place and the battery pack is secured on the tool before beginning operation. BATTERY PACK CAUTION: When placing battery pack in the tool, be sure raised rib on battery pack aligns with the bottom of the drill and latches into place properly.
OPERATION ADJUSTING THE VARIABLE SPEED See Figure 6. Use the variable speed knob to adjust the material feed rate of the caulk gun for your particular application. LOW SPEED n To increase the rate of material feed, turn the knob in a counterclockwise direction. �n To decrease the rate of material feed, turn the knob in a clockwise direction. OPERATION INSTALLING THE JOIST FOLLOWER See Figure 9. JOIST FOLLOWER �n Hold and lightly squeeze the open end of the joist follower in one hand. RAISED NOTCHES �n Insert the closed end of the joist follower into the opening located beneath the end of the carriage frame. Make sure it is completely seated to the raised notches on the joist follower. �n Release the open end of the joist follower. n When finished, squeeze the open end of the joist follower and pull to remove.
OPERATION APPLYING CAULK See Figure 11. CAULK BEAD n P � repare the surface by removing any dust, dirt, or remnants of old caulk. Make sure the area is clean and dry. n Adjust caulk gun speed to application needs. n Hold the gun at a slight angle. If filling a crack, insert the spout into the crack, if possible; otherwise, run the caulk gun along the surface. n Squeeze the trigger on the caulk gun and move the caulk gun at an even pace along the surface.
MAINTENANCE USING THE BAG WARNING: See Figure 12. When servicing use only identical RIDGID replacement parts. Use of any other parts may create a hazard or cause product damage. The bag provided with the caulk gun is designed to allow the tool to be secured on the outside of the bag, which helps keep the inside of the bag clean. To transport the caulk gun: n Place the base of the caulk gun inside the large pocket.
MAINTENANCE BATTERY PACK REMOVAL AND PREPARATION FOR RECYCLING BATTERIES The battery pack for this tool is equipped with nickelcadmium rechargeable batteries. Length of service from each charging will depend on the type of work you are doing. To preserve natural resources, please recycle or dispose of batteries properly. The batteries in this tool have been designed to provide maximum trouble-free life. However, like all batteries, they will eventually wear out.
