INSTALLATION IMPORTANT MESSAGE SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS The Regency Gas Fireplace must be installed in accordance with these instructions. Carefully read all the instructions in this manual first. Consult the "authority having jurisdiction" to determine the need for a permit prior to starting the installation. It is the responsibility of the installer to ensure this fireplace is installed in compliance with the manufacturer's instructions and all applicable codes.
INSTALLATION POLICY FOR SOLID FUEL BURNING & FACTORY BUILT FIREPLACES The Regency® E21 may be installed and vented into any solid fuel fireplace that has been installed in accordance with the National, Provincial and local building codes and is constructed of noncombustible materials. 1) Installer must mechanically attach the supplied label to the inside of the firebox of the fireplace into which the gas fireplace insert is installed.
INSTALLATION CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLES The minimum clearance from the side of the appliance to a combustible side wall is 9 inches (229mm). The minimum clearance from the top of the louver to a combustible mantel is 14 inches (356mm). The minimum height from the top of the louver to the ceiling is 36 inches (914mm). Note: A non-combustible mantel may be installed at a lower height if the framing is made of metal studs covered with a noncombustible board.
INSTALLATION GAS CONNECTION Only persons licensed to work with gas piping may make the necessary gas connections to this appliance. The gas connection is a 3/8" NPT accessible on the left side of the unit. The gas line connection may be made of rigid pipe, copper pipe or an approved flex connector. (If you are using rigid pipe, ensure that the valve can be removed for servicing.
INSTALLATION WIRING DIAGRAMS This heater does not require a 120V A.C. supply for operation. In case of a power failure, the burner switch and the optional remote control/ thermostat will continue to operate. However, a 120V A.C. power supply is needed for the fan/blower operation. INSTALLATION For PROPANE Units and Units Equipped with DC Spark Boxes* *For installation of the DC Spark Box refer to the LP Conversion instructions in this manual. FLUE CONNECTOR INSTALLATION 1) Remove the screw holding the flue connector plate to the appliance. 2) Slide the plate out and attach to the flue liner inside the fireplace to the flue collar with three sheet metal screws. 3) Place the appliance on the hearth.
INSTALLATION COMBUSTION AND VENTILATION AIR OFFSET FLUE ADAPTOR to the vent by sheet metal screw or a B-Vent, single wall vent connector. B-Vent chimneys require a 1" clearance to combustibles. A Offset Flue Adaptor Kit, Part #532-920 is available as an accessory to move the flue outlet back for easier liner installations in deep fireplaces. The offset flue adaptor requires the use of a 3" liner.

INSTALLATION LOG SET INSTALLATION Read the instructions below carefully and refer to the images. Dangerous operating conditions may occur if the logs are not positioned in their correct locations. If the logs are broken do not use the unit until they are replaced. Broken logs can interfere with the pilot operation. 3) Fit log 27-23 into the pins on the back log tray.
INSTALLATION 5) Rest the top of log 27-25 in the notch in log 27-24 and rest the bottom end of log 27-25 on the firebox base. 27-26 27-24 27-25 7) Fit the top end of log 27-27 into the pin in log 27-23 and rest the bottom end of log 27-27 against the 2nd grate post. 27-27 27-25 27-23 6) Fit log 27-26 into the pins on the front right side of the burner.
INSTALLATION 8) Fit log 27-28 into the pin on the left side of the burner. 27-29 27-28 10) Fit the top of log 27-30 into the pin on the right side of log 27-23 and rest the bottom of the log on the notches in logs 27-26 and 27-24. 27-30 27-23 9) Fit the left end of log 27-29 into the pin on the front left side of the burner (in front of the 1st grate post) and rest the right end of log 27-29 onto the notch on log 27-27.
INSTALLATION 11) Place embers along the front of the burner as shown. Ensure not to cover any burner ports. 12) Place rock wool along side the embers on the front of the burner as shown. Ensure not to cover any burner ports. 13) Separate platinum embers and place on the burner just in front of the logs. Avoid stacking platinum embers.
INSTALLATION FACEPLATE & TRIM INSTALLATION 1) Lay the faceplate panels flat, face down on something soft so they don't scratch. 2) Take the top faceplate and align the holes in it with the holes in the side panels. Using the screws provided, attach from the top of the panel (the holes in the top panel are slightly larger than the holes in the side panel to facilitate easier installation). See diagram 1.
INSTALLATION FLUSH GLASS FLUSH LOUVERS 1) Install the bottom glass trim onto the glass support. 1) The Top Louver is held in place by Spring Clips. Push into place as shown. 2) Slide the glass into the bottom glass trim and secure with the glass clips using the 2 phillips head screws at the top. 3) Slide the top glass trim by sliding under the two spring clips. Note: To re-install the glass, reverse the procedure. WARNING The use of substitute glass will void all product warranties.
INSTALLATION OPTIONAL BAY FRONT BAY LOUVERS IMPORTANT Flush glass must stay in place when bay option is used. The bay front is a decorative overlay only. 1) Install top louver by sliding the two bracket clips into the brackets located on top of the bay door. See below. The fitted louver leaves a small gap between faceplate bottom and louver top. 1) Place the bay door onto the 2 pins on the top of the unit. NOTE: The top and bottom trim pieces are different.

INSTALLATION 14) Check that the screw is clean and if necessary remove dirt. 15) Flip the screw (Fig. 3). WARNING! Also check that the pilot and main burner injectors are appropriate for the gas type. 25) Remove the Piezo Ignitor by unscrewing the nut at the back of the mounting bracket. Ignitor Wire 19) Replace Burner Tray and reverse steps 6) to 1). 20) Adjust the burner aeration setting from 1/8" to 3/16" as required for the best flame picture. INSTALLATION 29) Install the 1/2" bushing to the heat shield. 32) Connect the ground wire to the DC Sparker mounting bracket. 35a) Remove the bottom louver (if in place) by unscrewing the four screws located on the hinges. 30) Run the other end of the ground wire and DC spark generator wires through the bushing on the heat shield. 33) Install the supplied battery into the DC Sparker Box by opening the battery compartment. 35b) Location to mount the DC Sparker.
INSTALLATION FULL SCREEN DOORS 1) Hold the full screen door up against the unit in order to make the following wire connections. 3) Completely secure full screen door to the unit by securing 4 screws to the Left and Right Side Trim. Pull the ON/OFF connector wires thru the box and connect them to the switch. Connect the fan switch wires with the wire connectors from the fan speed control. Place clips over wires and tuck into side trim.
INSTALLATION 5) Install Spring Hinges to the Left and Right Side of the bottom of the firebox using 2 screws per hinge. 7) Install the Left and Right Side Screen Doors by placing over top of the hinges on the faceplate. Hold the door at a 45 degree angle to avoid scratching the faceplate. Hinge 6) Place Bottom Frame near hinge. Flip hinge over Bottom Frame and secure with 3 screws each. Screen Door Hinge Location Bottom Frame 8) Close screen doors.
INSTALLATION REMOTE CONTROL WALL SWITCH WALL THERMOSTAT Use the Regency Remote Control Kit approved for this unit. Use of other systems may void your warranty. 1) Run the wire through the right or left side inlet opening. Be careful not to damage the wire. The remote control kit comes with a hand held transmitter, a receiver and a wall mounting plate. Note: We recommend a maximum of 15' of wire but if you wish to go with a longer run, use the Thermostat Wire Table.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FINAL CHECK Before leaving this unit with the customer, the installer must ensure that the appliance is firing correctly. This includes: 1) Clocking the appliance to ensure the correct firing rate (rate noted on label) at 15 minutes. 2) If required, adjusting the primary air to ensure that the flame does not carbon. First allow the unit to burn for 15 min. to stabilize. 6) Verify log placement.

MAINTENANCE AUTOMATIC CONVECTION FAN OPERATION The fan operates automatically, turn the knob on the side of the faceplate to adjust to the desired speed. The fan will turn on as the stove comes up to operating temperature. After the unit has been turned off and the unit cooled to below a useful heat output range the fan will shut off automatically. NORMAL OPERATING SOUNDS OF GAS APPLIANCES It is possible that you will hear some sounds from your gas appliance.
MAINTENANCE DOOR GLASS REPLACEMENT Your Regency® stove is supplied with high temperature, 5 mm Neoceram ceramic glass that will withstand the highest heat that your unit will produce. In the event that you break your glass by impact, purchase your replacement from an authorized Regency® dealer only, and follow our step-by-step instructions for replacement.
