INSIDE REL AY AND WHAT IT DOES Central processor host (Freescale i.MX6) This board runs Android as the underlying OS to launch a custom build of the Wink app. System memory host DDR3 512M x 64 NAND Flash 2GB Serial NOR Flash 4MB 4.3" capacitive multi-touch screen [MRDDISP001] The touch screen is the central interaction point for this product. With a quick swipe, you can switch between your personalized dashboard and various screens that control local light loads and many other functions.
Bluetooth / Wi-Fi combo chip (Semco SWBB53 based on Broadcom BCM4334) [MRDSW002] This chip provides Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) connectivity. Bluetooth connectivity allows a wider spectrum of products to interact with the Wink platform on Relay. It also lets Relay identify multiple users and create custom experiences based on whose Bluetooth-equipped smartphone is nearby.
2x smart switches These switches can control local loads (the lights tied to your previous switch) or be configured to operate virtually any compatible smart product that reacts to on/off switches: garage door openers, smart light bulbs, smart power strips, etc. Motion/proximity sensor [MRDINP001] The motion/proximity IR sensor tells Relay when you’re approaching, giving the unit time to wake up and display your personalized dashboard. 2x mechanical AC relays The AC relays are your light switches.
AC/DC converter The converter is how the light switch is powered. The AC power from the gang box is converted to DC. Temperature & humidity sensor Temperature and humidity sensors put even more data about your home at your fingertips. Microphone [MRDINP003] The microphone provides a voice recording opportunity as well as the ability to incorporate an internal intercom system. Speaker [MRDOUT001] The speaker allows for the ability to incorporate intercom operability and other listening functions.
INSTALLATION WARNING: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK • Disconnect power to switch at the circuit breaker. • If you are unsure about any of the instructions, consult a qualified electrician. • Test the existing light switch to make sure the circuit breaker is off. NOTE • Installation by a qualified electrician is strongly recommended. • Relay can only be used with a single or double gang box. Do not install in a multi-gang box unit. • Replaces single or double light switches not wired to an AC outlet.
INSTALLING THE POWER BOX DOUBLE GANG BOX INSTALLATION (RECOMMENDED) A double gang box is a double light switch that controls two loads.
POWER BOX 1 Line connection 2 Neutral connections 3 Load 1 connection 4 Load 2 connection 1 4 3 2 1 Separate power box from main unit by gently pulling the base of the power box up and away from the back of Relay. 2 Remove existing wall plate and light switch. 3 Cut and strip wires to an appropriate length, if necessary.
4 Connect wires from wall to wires in power box as follows: NOTE: Colors of wires may vary depending on your gang box. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about a wire. Connect the hot wire from the gang box (usually black) to the red 2-pole connector on the power box. 1 Connect the neutral wire(s) from the gang box (usually white) to the white 4-pole connector on the power box.
6 Push all wires back into wall as far as possible. 7 Screw power box in place with the two (2) screws provided. 8 Turn power back on at circuit breaker. 9 On the front of the power box, you will see two buttons and an LED light. If wired correctly, the LED light will be solid green. Press the top button: the first load (light) attached to load 1 (step 7) should turn on. Press the bottom button: the load (light) attached to load 2 (step 8) should turn on.
SINGLE GANG BOX INSTALLATION A single gang box is a single light switch that controls one load. Since Relay has the ability to control two light loads, installation in a gang box that has two loads running to it is preferred.
POWER BOX 1 Line connection 2 Neutral connections 3 Load 1 connection 1 UNUSED 3 2 1 Separate power box from main unit by gently pulling the base of the power box up and away from the back of Relay. 2 Remove existing wall plate and light switch. 3 Cut and strip wires to an appropriate length, if necessary.

Convertisseur CA/CC Le convertisseur permet d’alimenter l’interrupteur d’éclairage.
