BEFORE YOU BEGIN Thank you for selecting the new PROFORM _>495 Pi treadmill. The PROFORM 495 Pi treadmill combines advanced technology with innovative design to help you get the most from your exercise in the convenience of your home. And when you're not exercising, the PROFORM 495 Pi treadmill can be folded up, requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills. For your benefit, read this manual carefully before using the treadmill.
ASSEMBLY Assembly requires two persons. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed. Note: The underside of the treadmill walking belt is coated with high-performance lubricant. During shipping, a small amount of lubricant may be transferred to the top of the walking belt or the shipping carton. This is a normal condition and does not affect treadmill performance.

AttacheachExtensionLeg(63)withtwo1"TekScrews (39)anda BasePad(57)as shown.Attachthe lower TekScrew,withoutthe BasePad,first. AttachtwomoreBasePads(57)tothebaseofthe Uprights(69)withtwo1"TekScrews(39).Note:OnereplacementBasePadmaybeincluded.If a BasePadbecomeswornandneedsto bereplaced,usethereplacementBasePad. 69 66 64 64 AttachthetwoWheels(66)withtwo2"Bolts(64)and twoWheelNuts(32)asshown.Donot overtightenthe Bolts;theWheelsshouldbeabletospinfreely.
Set the Console Base (47) on the Right Handrail (72) and the Left Handrail (71). Attach the Console Base with four 3/4" Screws (2). Start all four Screws before tightening them; do not overtighten the Screws. 7 47 71 72 Press the Upright Wire (42) into the slot in the underside of the Console Base (47) in the indicated area. Cover the Upright Wire with the Right Grip Plate (36). Be careful not to pinch the Upright Wire. Tighten three 1/2" Screws (48) into the Right Grip Plate and the Console Base.
OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT THE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT an equipment-grounding conductor and a grounding plug. Plug the power cord into a surge suppressor, and plug the surge suppressor into an appropriate outlet that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with all local codes and ordinances. Important: The treadmill is not compatible with GFCl-equipped outlets.

PULSE TIME DISTANCE 3a_ MPH SPEED Note: If there is a thin sheet Pulse Sensor Cli of plastic on the console, remove the plastic. slide the clip onto the waistband of your clothes. Insert the key into the console. A tone will sound and the three displays will light. Test the clip by carefully taking a few steps backward until the key is pulled from the console. If the key is not pulled from the console, adjust the position of the clip.
To stop the walking belt, press the Stop button. The Time/Distance display will begin to flash. change the unit of measurement. When the desired unit of measurement is selected, remove the key and then reinsert it. Note: During the first few minutes that the treadmill is used, inspect the alignment of the walking belt, and align it if necessary (see page 15). To reset the displays, press the Stop button, remove the key, and then reinsert the key.
HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL NOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be per= manently damaged. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill. Hold the treadmill with your hands in the locations shown at the right. To decrease the possibility of injury, bend your legs and keep your back straight.
HOWTOLOWERTHETREADMILL FORUSE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand. Press the storage latch to the left. Pivot the treadmill down until the frame and foot rail are past the storage latch. 2. Hold the treadmill firmly with both hands, and lower the treadmill to the floor. Do not drop the treadmill frame to the floor. To decrease the possibility of injury, bend your legs and keep your back straight.
TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the simple steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed, if further assistance is needed, call toll=free 1=800=4-MY=HOME® (1=800=469=4663). PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a. Make sure that the power cord is plugged into a surge suppressor, and that the surge suppressor is plugged into a properly grounded outlet (see page 10).

SUGGESTED STRETCHES The correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch--never 1.
