INTRODUCTION Introducing the Macally USB KeyPoint Thank you for purchasing Macally's USB KeyPoint. The Macally KeyPoint is one of the most versatile multimedia and presentation RF remote control available. It allows you to control your presentation up to 33 feet away. SOFTWARE INSTALLATION For Mac OS 9.2 To install the Macally USB KeyPoint 1. Insert the Macally KeyPoint Driver CD. 2. Open “MacOS 9.2” Folder. 3. Click at Install Keypoint file and the following window will pop up, click “Install” and follow the on screen procedure to install the driver.(Fig 1) Fig 1 4. Follow the step-by-step on screen procedure to finish software installation 5. Restart the computer after the installation.
For Mac OS X v10.1.5 or Mac OS X v10.2 1. Insert the Macally KeyPoint Driver CD to your computer 2. Open “MacOS X” Folder. 3. Copy “KeypointX_xxxx.pkg.sit” to the Desktop and expand the file. 4. “KeypointX.pkg” icon will show up on the desktop.(Fig 2) Fig 2 5. Double click the “KeypointX.pkg” icon to install. 6. Follow the step-by-step on screen procedure to finish software installation 7. Restart the computer. *Note: A KeyPoint Manager file will be created and saved in Applications folder.
For Windows 98SE/ME “iMPORTANT” Please install the KeyPoint driver “FIRST” before plug into the computer 1. Insert the Macally KeyPoint Driver CD. Macally KeyPoint is ready to use now. For Windows 2000/XP “iMPORTANT” Please install the KeyPoint driver “FIRST” before you plug into the computer 1. Insert the Macally KeyPoint Driver CD. Double click on the KeyPointWin_xxx.
2. Macally KeyPoint Setup Wizard is launched. (Fig 4.1)Click “Next” to continue the InstallShield and follow the step-by-step on screen procedure. Fig 4.1 3. When the “Alert” windows pop up (Fig 4.2),and ask you to plug the KeyPoint, plug the KeyPoint Receiver to you computer and click “Yes” to continue Fig 4.2 4. Follow the step-by-step on screen procedure to finish software installation. 5. Restart the computer and the KeyPoint is ready to use now.
SOFTWARE BASICS Keypoint manager pre-settings. For your convenience, we added pre-set settings for several commonly used applications. When you launch the applications listed below, KeyPoint will automatically function, you won’t need to go through the programming procedure unless you want to customize the settings.
Customizing the Macally KeyPoint Manager for Macintosh Launch Macally KeyPoint Manager from Application Folder (from Control Panels or Application’s folder in Mac OS 9.2 ) or press the KeyPoint Manager window. Before you start, you should have a general idea of what you want to program into the multimedia keys.
Example 1, I would like to change on the Mouse Button Setting on the KeyPoint. 1. Bring Up the Macally KeyPoint Manager by pressing on the Menu Button on the KeyPoint. In the KeyPoint Manager(Fig 5) “Application” should be set to “Default Settings”. 2. To program the “Mouse Left Button”, press “Mouse Left Button” on the KeyPoint or from the “Select Button” pop-up window select “Mouse Left Button”. The “Mouse Left Button” icon on Control Panel menu will be highlighted in red color. (Fig 6.1) 3.
4. Make sure none of the “Modifier Keys” is highlighted. Now, “Mouse Left Button” is set. (Fig 6.2) Fig 6.
5. To program the “Mouse Pointer” speed, press the “Mouse Pointer” on the KeyPoint or select “Mouse Pointer” from the “Select Button” pop-up menu and change “Cursor Speed” to “Slow”. (Fig 6.3) Fig 6.
7. To program the “Mouse Right Button”, press “Mouse Right Button” on the KeyPoint or select “Mouse Right Button” from the “Select Button” pop-up menu. 8. Select “Right Click” from the “Action” pop-up window. (Fig 6.4) Fig 6.

Example 2, How to program KeyPoint to support new Application? 1. From the “Application” pop-up menu. Select “Add Application…” (Fig 7.1) Fig 7.
2. You will be prompted to open an application. Locate and highlight the application you want (e.g., Acrobate Reader 5), and click “Open” (Fig 7.2). The application will be added to the Application list. In this example, we will be using Adobe Acrobat Reader as an example. Fig 7.
3. While the application is added in “Application” pop-up menu. Press “Play” Button on the KeyPoint or select “Play” Button from the “Select Button” pop-up menu. Select “Keystroke” from the “Action” pop-up menu (Fig 7.3) Fig 7.
4. Press the “Command” and “L” keys at the same time. The combination of the two keys will be shown on the Keystroke field (Fig 7.4) and now the “Play” button is set Fig 7.4 5. Repeat step 3 and step 4 to set other KeyPoint buttons within the application. Close the KeyPoint Control Panel windows when finish. To test the new settings, open a PDF document using Acrobat Reader.
Customizing the Macally KeyPoint Manager for Windows Press the button on the KeyPoint to bring up the Macally KeyPoint Manager window. (Fig 8) Fig 8 Before you start, you should have a general idea of what you want to program into the keys. We’ve provided a few examples for you to get started.
Example 1, I would like to change the settings on the Mouse Button on the KeyPoint. 1. Bring Up the Macally KeyPoint Manager by pressing on the Menu Button on the KeyPoint. Example 2, How to program KeyPoint to support new Application? 1. From the “Application” pop-up menu. Select “Add Application…” (Fig 10.1) Fig 10.
2. You will be prompted to open an application. Locate and highlight the application you want (e.g., Acrobate Reader 6.0), and click “Open” (Fig 10.2). The application will be added to the Application list. In this example, we will be using Adobe Acrobat Reader as an example. Fig 10.
3. Select Acrobat Reader 6.0 from the “Application” pop-up menu. Press “Play” Button on the KeyPoint or select “Play” Button from the “Select Button” pop-up menu. Select “Keystroke” from the “Action” pop-up menu (Fig 10.3) Fig 10.
4. Press the “Shift,” “Ctrl” and “H” keys at the same time. The combination of the two keys will be shown on the Keystroke field (Fig 10.4) and now the “Play” button will be replaced by “Automatically Scroll” function. Fig 10.4 5. Repeat step 3 and step 4 to set other KeyPoint buttons within the application. Close the KeyPoint Control Panel windows when finish. To test the new settings, open a PDF document using Acrobat Reader.
FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) Q1. I am using Microsoft Windows, the menu button on the KeyPoint does not bring up the menu screen after I install the driver. How to fix this problem? A1. Please unplug the USB KeyPoint Receiver, and uninstall the current driver first, then restart your computer.
