Thank you for purchasing the PATLITE Pressure-resistant Explosion-proof Rotating Warning Light.
Prior to installation, please read through this manual for proper installation and precautionary steps.
In addition, please store this manual for future reference when performing maintenance, repairs or
inspections. When performing maintenance and repairs, etc., please be sure to reread this book. If
there are any questions regarding this product, please contact our PATLITE Sales Representative.
Safety Precautions
<Introduction>
- This product is a fixed-mount type Pressure-resistant Explosion-proof Revolving Light which can be
used in a Zone 1 area appointed by government ordinance for the hazardous area of electrical
machinery and equipment.
- This product conforms to the technical standards for explosion-proof under the IEC standards.
- This product can be placed in areas for the purpose of warning with the danger of ignition
explosion, such as gas facilities, assembly lines for painting, nuclear power plants, chemical plants,
and steel plants.
In order to prevent any damage to the user and other personnel or to assets, note the following:
The warning indications are divided into the following classes according to the degree of danger or
damage incurred when the warning is not taken into consideration and the product is not correctly
used.
Warning
Caution
Indicates an imminently dangerous condition: failure to follow the instructions
may lead to death or serious injury.
Indicates a potentially dangerous condition: Failure to follow the instructions
may lead to slight injury or property damage.
Warning
• Follow the specifications, operating environment, and proper bulb replacement written in this manual.
Improper use of this product can result in an accidental explosion where surrounding gas reaches its
ignition temperature.
- Do not use any bulb other than what is specified on the nameplate or in the specifications indicated in this manual.
- Only use this product within the environmental range written in the specifications indicated in this manual.
- This product is a Pressure-resistant Explosion-proof Revolving Light which is certified for Zone 1 locations.
This product is not certified for use in Zone 0 locations, where an explosive hazard is constantly present.
- Use external wiring with a temperature rating at 70°C or higher.
- When repairing, inspecting or performing maintenance, etc., only operators who recieved explosion-proof training is
authorized to open the dome frame (body cover) and terminal box cover, with permission of a supervisor, and after
30 minutes or more has elapsed after the power supply has been turned off.
• Do not put paper, cloth, etc. which can burn easily on the product when the revolving light is on. Failure to
comply will result in combustion or fire.
• Ensure the proper working voltage is used and that direct current or alternating current is properly applied.
• Request a special contractor to install this product when construction is necessary, and when inspection and
maintenance is performed in accordance with the "User's factory explosion prevention electricity equipment
guide" from the Technology Institution of Industrial Safety.
• When using this product as a primary emergency alarm, it is recommended to use it in addition with other
products as a backup in case of failure, and be sure to implement daily inspection and maintenance.
• Because this product is heavy, it should be installed on a firm mounting location which can handle the
weight.
• Handle this product as a heavy load. When carrying or installing this product, it is recommended to wear
safety shoes and take cautionary steps not to drop or allow the product to fall etc.
• After installing this product, do not use this product as a stepping stool, or hook anything onto it. Failure to
comply may result in falling, causing the product to fall, or cause product failure, all of which is very
dangerous.

• Responsibility will not be taken if failure or damage, etc., is caused by handling
in contrary to the warnings and notes written in this operation manual.
Warning
Since the surface temperature of this explosion prevention revolving light product is designed
for 85°C or less, it can be used in accordance to a hydrogen atmosphere within the
temperature class T6 classification range and explosive-fume classifications IIA and IIB
<Gas/Vapor Classification and Temperature Class Table>.
- Can be used in the diagram outlined with the thick line.
- Cannot be used in the gas atmospheres indicated in the shaded area.
<Reference>
• When using an electric instrument in applications which require flame-proof-construction
specifications, use in conjunction with laws and regulations for places with the explosion
hazards. The explosion-proofed electrical equipment is implemented for the Technology
Institution of Industrial Safety in the explosion prevention license examination from Minister of
Health, Labour and Welfare in Japan. Specifications for Japan's explosion prevention
authorization has two types, of which this product carries authorization for basic technical (for
IEC consistency).
1) Electric-machinery-and-apparatuses flame-proof-construction specification (structure
specification example: d2G4 etc.)
2) Basic Technical (example: ExdIIBT4 etc.)
• Pressure-resistant Explosion-proof construction is defined when satisfying the following
conditions for containers with fully-sealed structures.
- Even if the inside explodes, the container does not break.
- Even if the inside explodes, it does not ignite the outside.
- External gas does not ignite with surface temperature.
- The container will not break from an external impact.
